Good photos... a couple great shots. Excellent choice of camera -- I've had Nikons for over 25 years (and NO, I'm not THAT old )
A good way to learn about lighting is to switch to B/W mode and then take some test shots. You will see how important getting the lighting right is to your shots. Shadows can detract from details needed to make a good shot great.
Basic advice is to always look beyond the subject of the photo to see if anything in the background will disturb or complicate the photo.
The beauty of DSLRs is that you are not wasting film to get the right shot. Keep in mind that professional photographers wiil take 10-20 shots in order to get ONE publishable photo --- So click away

thanks for the props and advice guys! I'll have to try that B/W thing to get a feel for what you're talking about 240zplus110. And bikesbikes, I can share my makeshift photography "skills" with you, but i'm still an amateur, so you probably won't have much to learn from me :P
anyways, here's tonight's installment of pics i apologize for the barrage of night shots, but it seems like that's the only time I have to take shots haha. I'll try to get more day time pics!
