Default Going to Cayuga

I'm planning on going to Cayuga tomorrow, see if I can run some 13s. At what point do I need a helmet?

I think some places just dont care, but most will require you to wear one regardless of what times your putting down.

Good luck man! Let us know how things turn out... remeber to rip out everything including the pside seat.

=)

GO 13's!

Thanks for the input guys. I found an old motorcycle helmet at work, cleaned er up and practiced driving with it on down the 403 in my Saturn.

You do realize wearing helmet on the streets is illegal right? unless you're on a bike.

Yah its kinda strange that its illegel to where a helmet in a car yet illegal not to where one on a motorcycle. Not that I would ride a motor bike without one.

We better not push the question though or McGuinty will here and want to make it mandatory that all Car and Truck drivers where a helmet.

It's illegal because it has a chance of causing neck injuries during an accident since it gets in the way with the headrest as well as the roof.

I got a total of 4 runs in, two of which I completely botched. Alot of driving for a measily 4 runs IMO.

First run 14.2 with 2.2XX 60' @ 100.30 MPH. I was up against some firebird dragster that ran 12.4 @ 96 MPH, he must have let off half way through the run.

Second, this was the part, 15.7, started with 3000 RPM dump so I burned through first and going into second got pretty sideways cause still no traction and the *** came close to the wall, my buddies laughed at me pretty good for that one.

Third, mis shifted going into 3rd, had to let off causing a 14.9.

Forth 14.3 with a 2.3XX 60' time.

My first time to the track...ever, so it kinda sucked that i drove 1.25 hrs to get 4 runs in. My confidence went to **** during th 2nd run. After the first run I thought I was gonna be in the 13s no problem. The 2,3,4 runs were done with only one lane openned, so ALOT of sitting in line and waiting. I'm wondering how low I can get my 60' time on street tires with about 255WHp.

On the way home I smoked another skunk carcus right in Cayuga, so it was a pretty sh!tty ride home.

I'm gonna have to go back next week cause I feel like I have failed my car.

It's not as easy as it sounds or looks but it is a lot of fun. Nerves play a part in this as well.

I have had only one drag track day myself so far. I left the traction control on half the time so most of my runs were crap. When I took the traction control off I left a lot of rubber behind.

I'm going to TMP tomorrow for a full day of driving around the track (not the 1/4 mile) This will be another first and I am so looking forward to it.

lower tire pressure, to about 15psi, take traction control off and ride the clutch out of the hole, or get stronger axle shafts slicks on the back and launch @ about 5000rpm and hold on for your life
