Take it easy motormouth. There's no need for this thread to get out of hand like this. A little civility, please. Thanks.

sorry sorry OP.

just so I feel better:

the Nissan Skyline is not necessarily GTR...

neither is EVERY R32, 33, 34 skyline made a GTR model. the GT-R is simply a 'trim level' or model of the skyline.

calling a Skyline GTR a 'skyline' is like calling a Lancer Evolution a Lancer OZ Edition

You still haven't answered my question. What was I, according to you, "wrong" about.

You really need to let it go, why you started arguing is beyond all of us.

I think his points are valid as a discussion between Nissan enthusiasts, it's at least worth getting the basic terminology right. His initial post was right on target in that "Skyline" and "GT-R" are very different beasts.....It may be OT from the original question asked, but is truthful nonetheless.

yes my next "fun only" car will be the GT-R, I will be waiting until it has been on the market for at least 2 years though. Availability will be a huge issue!!!
there are 3 trim levels I want the EVO GTR with 533HP and lots of carbon fibre!!!!!! anyone want to buy my TT 350z in 3 years??

The only R34's officially imported to the British market were GTR varients. I am aware that there are base versions.

My mentioning that I didn't think the G35 was worthy of the "Skyline" title was what upset Motormouth. I guess I was basing it on the fact the G35 lacks a GTR version. It is just not as hardcore. I also prefer the look of the R34 but I realize that is personal preference.

Aside from this, the G35/Skyline is not officially imported into the UK which kinda proves my point. Yet, it is the first "Skyline" to be officially imported to the U.S

Some other stuff......

The V35 was a major turning point for the Skyline. There was no straight 6, no turbo, and no GT-R. Nissan put a slightly more powerful VQ35DE in the 350Z, and although the Skyline & the 350Z shared the same platform, the 350Z had additional bracing, underbody aero parts, and weighed 100 kg less.[11] Japanese tuners mostly ignored the V35 Skyline, the 2006 Tsukuba Super Lap Battle had not a single V35 entrant.[12] Tuners such as Mines, Amuse, Hosaka, Garage Defend, M Speed, Nagisa, MCR, HKS, & Top Secret continued developing R32-R34 GT-Rs. Top Secret did tune a V35, but they replaced the VQ35DE with a VK45DE V8 Twin Turbo.[13] Signal USA entered a V35 in Formula D, replacing the VQ35DE with an SR20DET.[14] In contrast, US shops such as Relentless Autosports have had success with forced induction VQ35DEs as seen in their track footage.

I should have made myself more clear to motormouth rather than just making the statement.

The point of this thread was to find out who residing in Eastern Canada is going to upgrade to the Skyline GT-R & what colour.

(This thread was self-explanatory....sigh.....)

If you'd like to discuss anything outside of that, please create another thread.

yes it was but you didn't origionaly say GT-R. you have gone back and edited it to include the GT-R. had you been specific this would never have happened.

Besides healthy arguments are good for some people

I don't think it was necessary to state the obvious....

Funny how it seems everybody from Eastern Canada knew what I was talking about without the edit.....go figure....

Hey... just because I'm not from Eastern Canada doesn't mean I can't give my 2 bits worth does it??

Obvious to some but not to others... Nissan corporate dropped the "Skyline" for the new GTR -- it is simply and only known as a GTR. If you call it a "Skyline" you are going to upset the hardcore GTR enthusiasts.

The previous generations of "Skyline" were available in various trims, engine displacements, etc.... and yes the Infiniti G35 was marketed and sold in Japan as a "Skyline" (350GT was one model trim available).

To answer the original Q -- I know that a forum moderator from Western Canada has one on order.

This pointless discussion only seems to happen on Z and other non-Skyline or GTR forums.. Why do you people care?

1 million dollars *dr. evil pinky*

most car mags i've read have guess-timated the cost to be around 80k USD. i doubt they'll parity the price in canada, so i'm thinking it's going to be anywhere between 90-100k (after taxes, freight, pdi, etc.) depending on which trim package you buy.

$120k is what I was told, remember that the stealerships will mark up the first years models as demand is very high.

Ya it would be nice to save some money, but the GTR's would have to be used and insured in the US for at least 6 months in order to have the warranty transfered over.
