I thought I would not mod my Z....but.....then came guys parting out their cars and I could not resist.

Doba, you don't need to weld the Borla it is just bolt on. I got it put on for $45 at some mufflershop. Had to tell the guy what to do (good thing as he tried to use the impact on it) it works well though. Took him like 1.5 to 2 hours. Had the Engine light come on for a bit, I am assuming that the ECU was adjusting (just a guess though) - it went off after a while though.

Humm....to bad that was the last exhaust that guy but on. I called back and the guy does not work there anymore...hummmm.....wonder why?

cause it doesn't take 1.5-2 hours to put on an exhaust?you literally loosen 8 bolts, take the exhaust off its hanger, mount the new one with new gaskets and maybe some silicone, bolt stuff back on. Any muffler shop should be able to install a TD exhaust in under an hour.

Usually seeing the benefits of saving money wins out over mods.

Yeah I know I don’t have to weld it up, but I’ve heard people complaining about Leakage and ****, and the fact that it comes in like a gazillion pieces, I thought id just give it a quick Tig make it two piece then put the sucker on myself.

The main reason it took so long is that my car was driven in the winter when I bought it. Since the exhaust is not stainless steel (Nissan cost savings I guess), it was pretty rusted!!

You better start up a separate account name "350Z sunk costs" so you can mode it. lol.....Toys I tell you, expensive....would not have it any other way though!!! :-)

If you can say that with a straight face you clearly do not have the mod bug.

Well it's not that I don't like modding at all. It is fun, and I've spent a fair amount doing it so far and I haven't even scratched the surface of what's possible. It is just that $15 000 invested now will be worth $164 035.94 in 30 years.

As a side note, 15 000 invested today would be worth 126,398,822,744.90 in a mere 200 years. SOOO clearly, it's all imperative we invest.

You know, from the prices I paid for my 240 vs these prices Im seeing online for the 350z, again depending on what mod, the difference isnt all that big.

- I paid more for the Eibech sportsline springs on my 240 than ive seen springs go for on the Z

- Borla exhaust will be a bit, but I had 3 or 4 on my 240 all custom made so that came out WAY too much lol

- Body kit will be same ball park as my 240

- Rims .. since im going with the 06 rims people sell them for 800-1000 used, I paid more for rims on my 240

- Wheel spacers.. I will make custom

- Plenum spacer from what Ive read not all that bad, ~$300

- even sway bars from what Ive seen are cheaper than for the 240sx.

- Intake LOL dont even ask, I bought my Injen Cold air intake for the 240sx about 8-9 yrs ago when there wasnt all that much out for the 240, I paid *cough cough .. ~$600... OUCH
