Loser question. But if buying jewellery from a high end place like Tiffany's, is there room for negotiation? I know the mark up on jewelery is so high. Kills me to spend a lot there.

They don't negotiate.

That said, in today's economy, you can give it a try. I went to the Tiffany's on Bloor to buy my wife a present last week and although I didn't try negotiating, things were pretty dead business-wise.

yea, i've never tried to negotiate with tiffanys. Although if you're spending large amounts of money (like over 10k), i'm sure at that point there's room for some bargaining.

Yeah markup is high, but you get some value with the markup... especially on diamond engagement rings (I'm presuming that's why you're asking) like lifetime replacement gurantees, authenticity cards that gurantee/certify trade-up value in the future etc. etc... ask them about it.

Didn't work for me in those situations either.

what's hilarious about the tiffany's on bloor is the layout. all the expensive items are on the ground floor while the poor man's stuff is on the 2nd floor. so you see all the jailbait girls, younger dudes shopping for an anniversary gift and cougar women with hopes and dreams all on the 2nd floor
