in terms of unrealiable, not at all. It really depends how the car has been taken care of. My parents 04 has 70k~ on the car and still runs like new. no problems what so ever.

If you are looking for 04-06? body style
to further elaborate for you, i suggest getting the 3 liter model, those engines are bulletproof, vs the 4.4 where theres few issues.
- 3 liter eats less gass (12l/100k) and has pretty much same acceleration
- 4.4 liter eats more gass (13-14/100k), and sounds nice (exhaust)

In regards to the new current body style x5, i have not heard anything bad with the 6cyl or the 8cyl either, but do more research for that, im not 100% on that.

^I would stay clear of both the x5 & x3.... If you are considering SUV's, how about the FX35/45.. I was looking at purchasing one before winter and they are fairly priced..

I would love an FX if they could tow anything! A V8 thats only rated for 3500lbs? While the 4L V6 Pathfinder is rated for 6000lbs (and will likely by my next purchase).

In that market though, I am really digging the GLK. Haven't driven one yet, but they are hot.

I wouldn't be towing anything.. A friend brought over a 2010 pathfinder for me to test drive a couple of weeks ago and it just seemed to "bulky" for my taste.. But nonetheless, a solid suv..
I hear you on the GLK!.. -went for a test drive just before winter hit.. They are really growing on me.

Try a new Maxima? I loved my Maxima, and everyone I know who had one did too.
