Tuners Against Street Racing 2008, July 13, 2008 - Mark your calendars.
Admin.. please move to appropriate section is applicable. Thank you
Hello everyone, first of all I would like to thank My350Z and the Nissan enthusiast community for their support in our cause.
http://www.tunersagainststreetracing.com/
Our 2007 Charity Event was a huge, unexpected success and we are doing it again in 2008. The purpose is to build on our 2007 event, and spread even more awareness, as well further showcase automotive enthusiasts, and Tuners as responsible individuals making a difference in their communities, as opposed to what the media may sometimes portray. This is also a call out to anyone who has links in media to get them to come out and see for themselves what Tuners and Youth Automotive enthusiasts are really doing and how they support their communities and Charity. Here are details:

We have not posted a link for online registrations yet as this is being done, but the date is set in stone July13, which is a Sunday. Many people requested Sunday as they were unable to make it last year so we listened. This year’s show will have more Educational aspects already building on our seminars in 2007, more race driving school representation, More Entertainment etc. Our main focus for 2008 is raising the most money possible for Big Brothers and Big sisters which is the charity that works with us and we chose to support for our events. We also invite anyone to come out and get involved with our cause and with Big Brothers and Big sisters as they are in need of Youth Male role models to shape our future society through positive guidance and impact.
More info soon.
Get ready for 2008.

How many of these tuners will actually be against street racing? I would hate to be involved in an event, just to have 7 skyline's impounded on the way home for street racing. Lawl
i question whether events like this really are effective in the grande scheme of things. sure it might be a "huge, unexpected success" in terms of people showing up from different car clubs, but in terms of changing the negative stereotyped image of the general public, i would say it's questionable at best.
i'm trying to remember if this event last year brought the issue to the forefront of the media and to my knowledge, the answer was NO. i don't remember seeing the star, the toronto sun, or citytv covering this event or even covering the tuner's perspective towards street racing.
so is there really a point?

yea and they prob. won't cover it again this year. When the facts of who the actual street racers are gain more frontpage cover...who looks bad?
damn those minivans...they are my bane to my driving experience.

I agree with the cause but I would be skeptical on how the media would reported on this if they did show up. They like to report carnage because thats what readers read.
The media could easily spin it to make us look bad.
news man " Here I am at JRP and just look at all at all these potential racers on our streets" Then highlight some previous tuner cars caught under the new racing law etc...
We need the media to support us to get more tracks, etc...
Maybe raise the speed limit like I here they are thinking of raising it to 85mph somewhere in texas. haha

No one will be able to eliminate street racing, but knocking the only event that is trying to do something about it is silly.
Than again usually the keyboard warriors who knock things never show up to support anyways.
The event did receive media attention last year and coverage by PASMAG, and various other independent media, have a look at our site.
The event is not ONLY about Street racing.
Its a great cause as its to support Big Brothers Big sisters. Ultimately the choice to attend is yours, however I know those who attended and will attend this year had a fantastic time.
