Default Is it bad to purchase a car made in the US?

**EDIT: I don't mean a car made in the US, I mean a Z sold in the US rather than sold in Canada originally. Is there a difference in the model or not?*

A friend asked me if it were a bad idea to purchase a Z that was originally purchased in the US and then eventually came here to Toronto. I would guess they got it here by the dealership buying it from an auction. I dont really know how it happens, but he knows for sure from checking Carfax that it was first in the US.

I have no clue if there is any negative aspects by purchasing it. Can anyone give me some insight on the matter?

Many thanks.

I don't mean the Z was made in the US. But rather that the US model and Canadian Model might be different, and if so do does it cause any problems, with dealerships, or the warranty, etc.

For instance my old car (Acura RSX) had a US and Canadian model. With different features etc.

Americans have the choice of the base model, enthusiast, touring, and track packages.
We get touring and track i believe.

IMO You'll save a ton buying an american Z, I did and have no regrets

in order to know if a car is made in Japan. LOOK AT THE VIN# and if it starts with the letter J then it is made in Japan and if it Starts with a VIN#1 then it is made in US or Mexico

Who cares if the cars was brought up from the US. If you can save a few $ then go for it. If you resell it you may have to sell it for a little less but so what you didnt pay as much when you bought it.

When you drive down the road do people say oh thats a US car bla bla bla, NO, no one can tell and no one cares.

The only people that care and give you the impression there is a problem is some dealers that are Piisss that they cant compete so they give you a story that oh `don`t buy a us care it wont retain its value.

That`s all crap IMO. If it`s the same model its the same car dohhh.
The only reason Not to buy a US car is if you want to trade it in at the dealer later thats the only reason i can think of that would make sense.

Oh dont buy a car from the US but it`s ok to by one from any other country. Give me a break.

Ok sorry thats my rant had a bad day yesterday.

I just brought up a brand new 2008. The only differences seem to be that in Canada I could only find the GT but in the States you get all models. In terms of differences in the cars, the Canadian models have daytime running lights, child restraint kit, speedometer & odometer in Km's. Otherwise, I could find no difference. Oh, maybe price. The GT here, including PDI was about $51K; I paid $30K for my Enthusiast. No a perfect comparison but close enough for me.

I think "American designed" is a better description. Most of the foreign cars are made in the U.S. Quite a few of the American car companies do their manufacturing out of the country

Or even more accurately describe the Z as "assembled in Japan".

If you need more info, I would strongly suggest using the Search feature as there have been a dozen or more Z owners that have gone through the whole process in the past. DavidM started one of the more recent threads on this site.
