drivin in Toronto Winter??
I was told that this car is not all that great for winter driving, and even with winter tires it doesn't really make any difference....
have any of you actually drove in the winter with this car?? cuz right now, this car is my only way of transportation, otherwise I have to consider purchasing a beater....
what bout Insurance? would I be able to stop my insurance if I choose not to drive my car in the winter??
thnx.

I stored my car last winter. However, I can tell you that anyone who says that putting true winter tires on any car doesn't significantly improve winter traction hasn't tried them. They transformed my old Jetta into a snowmobile...
Also, as far as insurance is concerned, you should be able to get reduced rates while you store your car.

The Z is my daily driver all year round in Toronto. The car drives great with winter tires. You will not move with the stock tires on the car in any type of precipitation in the winter though. Last year I put on LM-22's on the stock wheels and had 0 problems. I mean, you cant be stupid either. Your limits will be ground clearence. You can not drive to work if you are expecting 2 feet of snow that day. If you do happen to get into a bit of a rut, just take of the TC/VDC and power out of it...again with ground clearence being your limit...if you get beached, forget it.
Good luck and I fully recommend the LM22's. The car is 10X better with the LM22's then my Integra was with all seasons.

Get a beater. I'm suggesting this not for the facts that the Z is hard to drive in heavy snow with winter tires and impossible to drive with stock tires, but for the abundance of debris on the roads during the winter months, which causes damage to the delicate paint of your Z.
