Default the best kept performance tire secret...

actually, there are two, the vredstein sessanta and the HTR ZIII by sumitomo, but its hard to get the Vredsteins so I've never tried them. I was talking to Samson@gb earlier today and realised that a lot of ppl don't know about the sumitomo HTR ZIII so I thought I'd share this with everyone because all of you are sexy.

So I'm pretty sure you don't want me yammering on about how great these tires are because everyone thinks what they drive on is the best....so I'll leave you with official reviews

Tire racks comparison test of UHP summer tires. The results are pretty shocking. The Sumi's finish 1st and set the fastest lap time I believe. Aside from the review, there are all these factual performance measures and graphs in the review

Right foot downs track review of the tire. Again, excellent review. (They do later say that the tires isn't great for repeated track sessions, but hell, if you're doing that, get some R Comps)

Finally, just google the tire name and you'll find people on different forums raving about them and mostly comparing them favourably with their OEM high perf tires.

Now on to the best part. Samson@gb has really good prices (free plug man) on any given tire. For example, Falken FK452's are $230 per tire for 275/45/18. These are pretty good tires, I'm sure most of you'll agree and they're considered cheap. The Sumi's are only $200 PER TIRE. And they have better dry grip for sure. I used to have FK's when I first got the Z and they have better dry traction, but in terms of dry performance, the HTRZ III are better. And before someone harps about the suspect quality of a no-name brand, Sumi's are the parent company of Falken :P I suggest you give these bad boys a try so you can get 2 sets for the price of one RE50 set and drive harder.
