I just got my 350 this week, bought it used. I was definetly very disapointed with the way the steroe sounded, but never thought much of it. Now I found this site, and I'm reading this thred.... hmmmm....

If this is the case, I sure as heck would like to get my baby fixed too. What should I be doing? Do I have to go back to the dealer I bought the car from or can it be any Nissan dealer? What should I be doing next?

I would really appreciate your advice, I don't exactly consider myself a "car person", at least not yet.

Blackie, I've had my car for over 2 weeks now. I did a search and found the range of production dates applicable for the recall (late '02 to mid '03, search to be sure). I recorded all the TSB info but my dealer in Ottawa said they just received a Cdn TSB for the recall and we not interested in any of the information I had. All they wanted to know was the production date of the car. As soon as it was confirmed, they took the car without any issues. I'm not sure the US and Cdn numbers are the same or not.

BTW, if you haven't been there, check out the Nissan350Z.ca site. IMO there's a little more posting activity in there for us Canadians.

The VIN numbering is different in Canada than the US cars, I think we have an extra digit.

I just found out today that my rear window washer (sprayer) stop working. It was working fine before I took the car in for the BOSE amp replacement (about 1.5 month ago), wondering if they accidentally disconnected something ?

Greetings fellow Canuks from Southern California.....I also fell into the Amp replacement bracket....had mine changed, and the sound is much better. I listen to a lot of Techno and Electronica, and I can feel the subwoofer pounding in my back through my seat.....have my cd's cranked to 20-22...love it! As for tire feathering...there are many threads on that issue in the SoCal forum. I have not had that problem.

My dealer tried to tell me that my car which is an 03 Performance made in 03/03 doesn't fall in the amp tsb catagory. My stereo just doesn't have enough bass and I would like to see if the new amp will help. I guess I'll keep harrassing my dealer and if that doesn't work go after market. /sigh

Yielar,

the new amp won't give you more bass, it will only sharpen the sound. The recalled amp I had in my Z had mega bass. So much so it sounded like a disco on wheels, but the sound was muffled. With the new amp I still have the bass, but the sound is sharper and I can hear songs much clearer. Good luck, hope you can get it done.

Mine is a 03/03 build as well and Tony Graham Nissan in Ottawa told me my car's VIN didn't fall into the range for the TSB. The stereo in my Z sounds worse than the stereo in our Toyota Matrix by a significant margin.

Its interesting that they couldn't tell me over the phone whether or not it was covered. I had to bring the car in at which point all they did was look at the VIN in the computer from the sale (didn't even read it off the car) and tell me to f off.

I've heard people have had better luck with Walkley Nissan so I may give them a call.

Elmer.

My apologies for being so late to this thread but just for fun and for anyone that would like to know the history of the Bose amps here it is

The problem with the first amp (the one that was in my Z on Delivery in October '02) was that the Bose 'Audio Pilot' system that was supposed to control the Volume in relation to the ambient cabin noise didn't work. All it did was arbitrarily raise the bass volume making everything sound muffled.

They replaced the original amp under a TSB with the first replacement. The problem with this amp was that now you had no control of the bass levels. +10 or - 10 all sounded the same.

This is now amp number three and I'm glad to say we finally have control of our beloved bass again

Now if we could only get the tire feathering issue cleared up
