Default Stock cats, HC failed?

Hey guys, I just did an e-test and failed my hydrocarbon at idle, 170 as opposed to limit of 150. At 2500 rpm, the car passed well under the limit. Any idea why this could happen? I have a catback and intake, but that's it. Stock cats. The car has been off the road for awhile and I really need to get it registered because the tags are expired (already got ticket). Any ideas? Also if anyone knows a good drive clean shop that can help me pass ....please PM. Thanks

also, the car's been sitting for about 4 months. I put in a new tank of 94 octane and ran it for an eight of a tank before doing the test/

I haven't used the stuff but have you considered trying a bottle of "garanteed to pass"? It may be worth a shot.

if its been sitting, its gotta be driven a good bit to get all the stale gas and other deposits out of the system. im a cert. drive clean inspector. seen it many times. but there is always a small chance itll be something else, but with being slightly off most likely needs a drive.
u can ask the facility to do that for u with their plate. (no tickets)
y is a 2500rpm test being done? you're car should be able to fit on a dyno for a 40km/h test. any questions feel free to PM me.

If it's been sitting there is probably a lot of build up....you are probably better off running a tank of 94 till bone dry and then fillin git with 94 again and testing or even filling it with garanteed to pass.

I have filled it with guaranteed to pass. Going to burn off this tank and then try again. Of note, the battery was replaced right before I took it, so maybe the ECU isn't fully calibrated yet....

thanks guys

replaced plugs at APH and cleaned throttle body, and car passed with flying colours. HC ppm came down from 170 to 4. Thanks to Ed@aph and Mint Racer and everyone else for the help.

hehe, thx for advertising maroli. The body kit for the evo came in last nite and we are busy doing some test fitting down here. On top of that we still have bwk's engine to reasemble and install for the next couple of days
