Default Buying a car in the U.S. and selling it in Canada?

Hey i'm in the U.S. and working in Montreal for a few weeks. I've realized the price of cars are very high in Canada vs. the U.S. Considering the exchange rate is almost 1 to 1 right now. Has anyone done this? I know Canada charges a 6.1% tax for importing the car. However, the price descrepency is huge!

Do you plan on living in canada and moving here for good?
I had a friend who had a calif plated car and she moved to toronto for about 2 years and never changed a thing. No one also gave her a hard time having usa plates. If you don't plan on moving here for good just bring your car and if anyone asks your just here on business working on a small project.

there are tons of US cars for sale in Canada, you just have to register it over here but not sure if you can being a US citizen.

lots of Canadians will buy US cars but they are always priced under Canadian cars for a variety of reasons.

Chiefly, much of the US information that would be on a carfax does not translate over up here... for example, lots of flood cars, rebuilds or salvage titled cars come across the border without their past coming with them. For that reason there is a price hedge of probably 5-15% on US imported cars.

For the guys on here that bought a US car and didnt do a thorough check there is a 50% chance your car was hit or flooded before it came up here

When i was buying my G35 a seller of a red G35 tried to hide it's accident and remiling history until it became apparent to him that i know how to check it.... i still have the e-mails

Also, working at CARSTAR in the head office i come across these cases on occassion. We had a Mercedes in one of the shops that had a flood history concealed which impacted it's ACV and repair procedures up here... unfortunately no one knew about it until doing an audit after some unusual issues cropped up.

Past comes with a car from the US if it was a salvage due to an accident or a flood it would be branded as such in Canada. I know the brand would be on the title in Canada at least in Ontario. In regards to flood cars they are no longer able to be registered in Canada according to some individuals who deal with RIV. I was also not able to bring a 2010 911 shell that was flooded this spring. I was hoping to update my track car to the newer GT3 RS specs through the summer. Sadly it was denied entry.

Almost any vehicle that would come out of a state like Texas I would be suspicious of. They seem to be fairly lax in regards to titles. In other words lots of titles get washed in Texas.

When it comes to salvage car I import quite a few into Canada. As well as importing them I bought my last 3 track cars in the US and they were all salvage cars. I find myself not worrying about braking too hard in a corner when I have half as much in my car as the other guy.

In order to sell a car in Canada it would need to be imported properly as well as inspected.

tranferring salvage titles or flood damage depends on whether it was propelry reported in the US. Each state has different regulations for that so it can differ by state.

many used car dealers in Ontario sell grey market cars like this as a business model. The mercedes i referenced was from NJ and did not have a properly disclosed history when registered in Canada... there were clues in the carfax report that lead to the discovery of the flood damage.

I know of a numebr of used car dealers where the majority of their inventory comes from the US and most of the cars have some kind of history of this sort. If they didnt it would be easier to sell them in-state.

how about buying it from the state for personal use. I have been checking on CL and autotraders everyday....and seems that in the US its cheaper by alot.
I am looking for the silver / black / white 350z, preferrably under 60k. If anyone has any suggestion, please let me know. I am just a student and would love to save up if I can. Living in Vancouver, I can always come to Seattle.
