Anyone from Ontario going down to ZDayz in May?
I'm really looking forward to making the road trip down there for the first time this year.
If there's any fellow Canadian Z & G owners would'd like to meet up and make the run down together let me know

May 17th-19th is the annouced dates for 2012
Thursday May 17th Check-in
Friday - Events all day
Saturday- Events all day + After Party
Sunday pack it in and head for home.
I was only introduced to the event known as ZDayz last week but as soon as I got the details I knew I was going! I'm cleared by work and the wife so I'm ready to roll
The event is held each year at the Fontana Village Resort in North Carolina in the Great Smoky Mountains and is based around "Tail of the Dragon" a mountain road thats been described as an 11mile roller coaster with 318 turns, mostly hairpins and rolling elevation changes.
www.Zdayz.com
This year is shaping up to be HUGE as the show has been gaining in popularity and numbers each year. They haven't updated the event schedule yet but here is last years list of events.
Top Dawg Airstrip Runs
Weenie Roast
Drop Top Cruise
Frisbee Golf (x2)
Dam Photo
Car Show
Tail of the Dragon
Exhaust Competitions
Poker Run
Welcome Dinner
Tech Sessions (x2)
Beer Pong
Paring Lot Get-together
Swap Meet
Awards Dinner
After Party
And judging by the number of people talking about it on the boards it looks like the number of people going will be much greater then last year.
I went to make reservations yesterday almost 4 months in advance! and the resort is already almost booked solid. My wife and I opted for a campsite instead of a hotel room or cabin since the whole event is located in the mountians within a National forest at the foot of a dam/huge reservoir. Should be amazing!
PS- I have no affiliation with them... just excited to go

Its only one day drive down to knoxville. (1300k from toronto) (north of the dragon) its a pretty boring drive till you hit KY.
If you go down your best bet is to grab a room in knoxville then in the morning head down. Also dont forget you will be in TN.. Its a dry state so watch your bews

My wife and I are going to be camping there so we'll be a hop skip & a jump from all the festivities going on that weekend. We enjoy camping every year anyways so my wife is pretty excited to camp down there in the Smokey Mountains.

We booked a campsite right there at the Fontana Village Resort where the event is being hosted and currently campsites are the only accomodations that aren't booked up at this time. However theres also several other hotels and inns that are advertised on the event website that are only about 20-30mins from the event if you don't feel like camping out.

Well I just checked my work schedule and it looks like I am clear. Talked to the girlfriend about it and she is up for the adventure so it looks like this is a green light pending fixing the minor car issues right now. And assuming my car isn't being repainted when we are set to go down

Here is our current travel plans:
My wife and I will be leaving the London area on Wednesday May 16th in the evening (after work) and plan a stay over that night in Fort Wayne Indiana.
There is a Holiday Inn right off the highway we'll be staying at.
On Thursday morning (May 17th) we'll be meeting up around 8am with members of the Indiana Nissan Infinity club (iNi club) and rolling south for North Carolina convoy style with them.
The plan to is to arrive in NC by around 3-4pm in the afternoon on Thursday so we are there in good time for the event registration, getting our accomodations sorted out and the opening night festivities.
Friday and Saturday will be the events, poker run, the dragon, general mountain road touring and the event dinners/ after party's.
Sunday AM we'll be departing for home and will probably stay over night somewhere near Michigan/Ohio and cross the border again Monday morning.
Should be a great trip!

Sickboy101, I know what you mean. Spring is always a busy time for me as well. Being a Mechanical Engineer old projects get dusted off and new projects start to flow in as the weather warms up from the dead of winter.
I had to pull a few strings and call on a few favours to get the time off myself.

I am starting to get a little nervous about my Z not being redone in time since I will only be home for about 40 days between now and then.

xjuddx Well Fingers crossed you get your car ready in time. It would be nice if we could get some Canadian Z's & G's together to make the run down with the guys from the iNi Club.
Also if you have 2-way radios the plan is to use them to stay in touch for the road trip down there and when out bombing around mountain twisties as there is little to no cell coverage and us Canadian guys would get royally screwed on the roaming charges anyways.

If everything goes to plan my car will be ready. Things are looking up.
