Default has anyone compare the 05 engine to the pre 04 engine?

I know for the g35 there was a loss in tq up a gain in HP and the redline was raised to 7rpm. And i believe the track model of thr 350z has a 300hp vs 287hp and there was also a loss in tq.

So is it true that some nismo S1 parts were installed into the car so the car can handle the higher redline? What are the major part difference between the two engine.

Perhaps some of us pre 05 owners can use some of the 05 engine parts to get our cars stronger. Thanks

They added variable cam timing to the exhaust side in the 05's i think that's where they made most of the HP and Torque loss. do a search it's been covered many times

The track model doesn't have 300hp, the 35th anniversary will.

There is no track model currently, it doesn't come out until the 35th anniversary 350Z model comes out. But, yes, it will have 300hp as well.

now is the added HP and TQ loss more benifical or its about the same as the old engine setup, just another marketing stragy to get people to buy.

It will be of no benefit whatsoever. Basically, you will get a little more torque at a higher rpm (hence the higher peak hp number), but you will lose torque at lower rpm. The real key to see if you have more overall power is to look at the area under the torque vs. rpm curves of the two motors.

The new motor was actually slower 0-60 (5.8 vs. 5.7)
