Unhappy I think I messed up Badly

Hey guys i finally recived my B&M short shifter from the group buy today. After the install i realized that i no longer have to push the shifter down to engage reverse and the shifter also goes a buit past 5th its very scary i think it may have been that i used a dremel to remove the section of the houseing and i may have grinded to much away.

my question is is there a way to fix this or would i need a new transmission.
do you think i could just put a small peice of metel in the gap that i shaved to stop it from goin that far over.
and what do i do about the reverse going in gear with out pushing the **** down?

please help!

Sounds like you need to adjust your guide plate. But be aware that the B&M shifter can cause alot of problems. At least in my case it did. I installed one and it was very notchy but much short shifts so I kept it. A few months later it would go past 5th like you stated especially when revving hard. I adjusted the plate and it worked fine but a couple moths later the prob came back and now it seems adjusting the guide plate does not fix it. Needless to say I removed the B&M unit immediately and am looking for a receipt so I can get a refund from B&M. Who knows if it damaged something tranny wise. Right now I'm waiting for some OEM bolts to come in so I can put the stock unit back in and hopefully everything will be fine :/

Check Page 8 of this PDF for info on adjusting the guide plate:

And no I dont use a rogue shifter... After such a bad exp with B&M I dont think I want to spend another $200 on any short hifter.

Some of the boys at Mossy Performance installed my Nissan Motorsports SS wrong, and my reverse lock out didn't work.

I took it back and they fixed it right away. I realize that this is a different shifter, but they might know how to fix your problem.

If you end up leaving the B&M try the Nissan Motorsports. I'm happy with mine.

It should just be a simple adjustment of the guide plate, it's an easy fix.
