yes, if for some reason there is a balancing problem as i had described, it can cause the friction surface to loosen from the rest of the flywheel, amongst other things.

Drift 350,

Actually my A/C vibration problem was the opposite of what you stated, it vibrated when on and stopped vibrating when turned off. Anyway I have been unable to get it to happen again.

Checked the stock flywheel and there are balancing weights, but I don't see how that would confirm it was balanced when mounted. Seeing balance weights doesn't mean the flywheel was balance on the car anymore than seeing weights on your rims means they were balanced on the car. As you know rims can be balanced when mounted, or more often than not, when dismounted. Plus when I went back to get my flywheel I asked my Z mechanic and he said "No, the stock flywheel is definately not balanced while on the engine."

Keep in mind this is a "first impression thread" and I just crossed the 150 mile/3 day mark. I have been trying to discribe every dirty little detail. Now for some good stuff. Chugging along in the middle lane of I95 at about 35mph yesterday (going to get my stock flywheel), traffic in the left lane wizzing by at about 65mph. Along comes a 10 car gap so I punch it from 2nd gear to merge into the faster traffic... I actually broke the tires loose! The changes this mod has made in the way the car drives can not be understated. Rolling along in 2nd gear and turning 3G's on the tach, this car (for the first time) feels like it can take on just about anything that might come along side to challenge it. I think I might be starting to like this mod or at least starting to appreciate the good things this mod has done for my ride.

Uh-oh.... now you have me worried! I have the Vortech and can break the tires lose in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd from a roll already. Going to add the JUN flywheel in the next week or two. Rolling 4th gear traction loss, here I come!

BTW, 350 P... thanks for the review!

A good way to find out is to take your OEM flywheel and see how well it's balanced on its own. Maybe a performance shop could check it out.

location of the weights, or the way they offset the imbalances will tell.

if the weights were in a location not reachable while bolted to the crank, it would be guaranteed the fly was balanced separately. especially if it were drilled and the location was a definitely unreachable location

if there were in a reachable location, the only way to fully determine is to have it thrown on a balancer to see if it's balanced.

but if there are attached weights, again, off to a balancer it needs to go to determine.

Ok, I've had my fun. If I'm not getting on this thing, I hate it. To me, there is just no pleasure in having my Z sound like a truck when I'm cruising. You start with the gravel sound up to about 2200 rpm then it quiets down til you hit 4000 rpm then the vibration starts. Having no problems driving (except when people don't get out of my way). Launch, shifting and reverse are all very good. I'm going to stick it out for another 2600 miles when we increase the viscosity. If the sound/vibration is not cured as promised, its coming out.

Something sounds wrong if you're experiencing these sorts of problems while cruising. Once I'm above 2k rpm, my JWT make no noise at all all the way to redline. There might be a bit more vibration in the shifter at high rpms, but no noise.

When I first installed mine, it would rattle quite loudly at about 5k rpm and up, but we found out it was just the shift lever rattling against the shifter plate. A small adjustment of that plate cleared that up.

Thanks for the info Jreiter, I'll get it back to the shop and have them check it out.

Have been to busy to get back to the shop. Just crossed the 500 mile mark on the new flywheel. I got to tell you, this is a real love hate relationship. The fricken car just wants to leap to 60 mph. I can not over state how much the throttle response has improved. I absolutely love it!

But, its almost embarrassing driving through a grocery store parking lot. If you take it easy, you get the clatter. If you bring up the RPMs people look at you like your going to takeout the old lady in the crosswalk.

I did get to kill a Neon turbo (twice), once from a dead stop and second from about 30 mph. I got a couple of car-length jump on him both times while his turbo was spooling. After that he was slowly pulling up on me but we ran out of room. It pissed him off
