no, jason has changed his mind again with the route he is taking on his car.
Also, the dynos for te lower plenum and upper plenum together have not been done, since a few of our customers have stated already that it doesn't work too well on the 287 "HP motor, while on the 300 HP motor, an upper plenum still adds power.....
So we basically ditched the idea altogether since no one here has an 05 300hp Z to test on.... well, not yet....

I am planning on a stronger NA motor for now.... with intention of putting a JWT turbo kit on it....
But, first on my list is...
New Brakes

hey jason, just curious about why you're planning on the JWT turbo kit? I don't know much about it, wondering if you know any inside info or mainly because of jwt's reputation?
the torque curve looks awesome, but above 5000rpm's looks kinda boring - the torque really dives off and the hp it just flattens out - then again it's just doing 6.8 psi and overall it is higher hp numbers throughout the powerband than APS at 9.2 psi.

we'll have to see how it works out. I'm not going FI for about 3-4 months, but if the JWT kit really is that much better, then I might be willing to wait for it to come out.

actually here's an overlay of the APS kit at 9.2psi from their site overlayed with the JWT graph -from 6.8 psi, though the graph in the fine print says 7.4-8.2 psi?
BIG difference between the two
wish I had the torque curve of the APS kit to compare though...
but it looks like the JWT will be better than APS kit until 5750rpm's - usually by a 50whp gain over APS until it's over 5000
AND the APS kit is using their test pipes and dual exhaust while the JWT is a stock Z other than the turbo kit
according to their site the turbos max out at about 530 hp and are shipped stock for 400hp

wrap it up. i'll take it.
and they're here in san diego, so maybe jw himself will tune it.
i wonder if other a/m parts will help or hurt this setup? i know the hks unit requires stock headers, cats.
sorry to be ot, but the thread was dead, anyway
ps: thanx for the cool graph, sentry.

i'm kinda thinking i'll still go with the aps kit since it's capable of 800hp and the jwt does 530hp - even if the graph shows it acting as if it was 600hp
The aps has been out and tested on a lot of cars now and has a complete fix for the Z solving all the FI issues. Not sure about the JWT yet - maybe it does, but who knows. The JWT could possibly blow engines so who knows.
I like that the other TT kits actually have 2 intakes. The JWT single intake makes me wonder how well it can suck in air with it being crammed into that little space and all the piping closing it off - and it's still in the engine bay, though I'm sure the design works fine. JWT has a long standing reputation.

i don't want insane hp, just enough to keep up with those vette and porsche nanopenises, or at least make it interesting, but your points are well taken, and i won't be one of the first to buy that system...i'll wait awhile to see what develops with the jwt and with your own experiences.
looks like the hardcore na people are migrating over to the fi camp. nissan will be happy they won't have to honor their warranty anymore. maybe that was their intent all along.

It was kinda doubtful they'd honor my warrenty with my NA parts anyway...
I'm sure I could go dealer to dealer, but there isn't a dealer where I live that can touch Performance Nissan. In a strange way, I think I'll feel slightly relieved because even though I should have a warrenty with being NA and they most likely wouldn't know I have cams and ECU flash, the dealers for the most part are still ignorant enough to really hassle me over it. So going FI, I now know I don't have to deal with them. I can go straight to my tuning shop where they know more about my car than the dealer anyway
and not have to play the "honor my warrenty game"
The local shop I'll be going to says they charge roughly $2000 for APS TT install and $150 for tuning.
I can get the kit for $7000
gauges for $1000 or so
$1000 for jethot coating and misc other stuff like transmissoin cooler, oil cooler, new fluids etc
$2000 for ATS twin clutch, $200 for install
$150 for shipping
= $13500 for what should end up being aroun 405-435whp because I already have cams, cats, exhaust, and SSV plenum.
later I can sell my headers, intake, intake tube, and tilton clutch all for around $1500-2000
I'm going to buy a cheap used car for at least half of my daily driving and mix in some 101 octane gas in with the 91 octane on the Z and so hopefully that gives me 3 years of use on the stock engine. If the engine blows up, then at least I'll have a backup car and maybe I'll have enough money lying around to fix it.
But the plan is after a few years, to do a massive long block engine build up, driveshaft, fuel upgrade, etc that'll all cost around $20k, but give me some reliability and 100-200 more whp. We'll see though...
