Default Stillen Engine Dampener Brace

Has anyone here bought and installed this Stillen item? If so I was wondering if there are potential benefits. Does it take some of the workload off the motor mounts? It's only $124.00 and would really like to know any opinions and if installation was straightforward, or not...

Stillen Engine Dampener Brace:

"When an engine moves excessively in its mounts, energy is wasted. Stillen's engine stabilizer converts this wasted motion into forward momentum. An isolastic mount acts as a shock absorber and dampens unwanted motion. With no hydraulic parts to wear or fade in use, this is a long term solution. Easy mounting uses existing holes and complete instructions are provided".

Yup, put mine on the other day. Works as advertised. Relatively easy install, but cramped quarters will be hard on your knuckles. I put it on to reduce driveline lash, which was causing a rattle (scattershield maybe?), moving my shifter around and contributing to wheel-hop. The rattle is gone, the shifter stays put, and wheel-hop is almost gone. Launches and shifts are smoother as a result. Should ease wear and tear on the motor mounts as well. Wish I'd made this mod a long time ago.

The holes were a little off, but it went in. Install is straight forward, but if your hands are larger than a five year olds, you will be getting a little anoid. Be carefull not to push or pull to hard on any of the hoses that are in the way. I bent my power steering hose connector and had to have Jason at performance order me a new one. took a little over a week to get.

yes, the stillen engine damper makes a difference. I like it and am going to install it on my car soon. It helps espeically when starting to move from a dead stop, (in manual cars) where there is sometimes a slight shuddering while you start moving. After the install you'll notice the start off is a lot smoother. Also, it can help extend the life of themotor mounts since the engine is not shifting as much. It really helps reduce the shuddering feel that you get every now and then from the motor.....

Oh and yes, some people have mentioned that one of the holes on the bracket is off, in comparison to where their stock bolts are. As mentioned, this is an easy fix, either drill a new hole or widen the existing hole on the bracket. But some cars have this problem and others do not, so i'm not sure if it's a maufacturing issue with the brackets or something minor that nissan has changed through the few years....

put this on with the last round of mods, and i am really happy... my shifter feels completely different, no more wobbling around... makes the shifts feel quite a bit more solid and i never come close to missing 5th anymore

Very interesting product...never seen it before, guess that's why I'm part of the forums

I just ordered the AAM angled spacer and I'm a little concerned with vibration or engine movement rattling the strut bar after everything is installed and the hood is shut.

Does anyone think this may help if I do encounter vibration along the strut bar resulting from the raised plenum?

Mine is on the way. By any chance, does anyone have more pictures specifically on a Z? I want to see this from different angles especially on the mounting points. The only shot we have so far is this one found on the G forums:

Thanks!

The AAM Spacer, comes with spacers for the strut tower bar. You actually raise it up just enough so the STB does not touch the plenum.
