Default Installing a new clutch....questions....

ok...here's the deal. I'm going with an APS TT kit next month and I want to upgrade my clutch BEFORE the turbos because I know I won't properly break in the clutch if I have them both done at the same time.

I plan on doing the clutch myself in my garage. I've done clutch jobs on FWD cars before, but never a RWD car. I was just wondering if there's any quirks to the 350Z as far as the clutch replacement goes and also is the dual-mass flywheel resurfaceable?

I also can't decide on the clutch to get or where to get it. I'm seeing anywhere from $369 to around 600 bucks for an ACT street clutch. I'm going to be running around with around 420-450rwhp and want it to be as close to stock feel as possible. Any recommendations??

basicly...

you need to remove the exhaust mid pipe section...

remove the drive shaft...

pull down the trans or you can move it back if you put it on a lift...

then you will have access to the clutch...

while you are in there you should definatly change the flywheel...

GO with the JWT Flywheel. The stock flywheel is not really resurfacable.. The JWT Is... Then you can use the JWT clutch for the most streetable stock feel clutch... anything else with any other type of disc then organic / copper will be hard to drive

ok...good info...took a gander at the FSM and confirmed that it's not a big deal at all.

Sucks that I have to buy a flywheel too..oh well. Thanks for the info.

I have been using the CM stage 3 clutch for about 35,000 miles and about 7,000 of that is with my APS TT with 0 problems or slippage, and alot of 1/4 mile trips on slicks... We just cleaned up the stock flywheel when installing the clutch and it has been fine... I would however reccomend a light weight flywheel if you have the means, as it does allow the car to rev up so much faster... The feel of the clutch is better than stock in my opinion... PM me if you have any questions.

yes, for that kind of power, go JWT or tilton.

The tilton clutch and flywheel, since they are so light, will really help spool up turbo/s much faster, since the motor will rev up quicker.
