Default RPS clutch?

Does anyone here know anything about the RPS clutch and flywheel package? HOw does it compare to the Tilton street package? I had never heard of it before but the TT Z at the Philly auto show had it. I talked to the mechanic about the setup of the car and i asked about the clutch and flywheel. It sounded like an interesting setup as i've never heard of anyone on here using it. Any info from anyone? I searched it but nothing came up.

I have the tilton now and will be switching to the RPS this weekend. I'll shoot you a pm on the differences when I get everything done.

oh yeah I'll post it here. I'm getting rid of the tilton cause my car is my daily driver and I just cannot deal. If you dont drive often its okay and the tilton is FUN.. I cannot express that enough. I'm really going to miss how fast it revs, it literally revs up like a motorcycle right now. If anyone decides they can master the Semi Street tilton I have it for sale for $850 shipped or better offers.

Well, I only got to drive home with the RPS clutch and flywheel yesterday. My initial impression coming from the Tilton assembly is obviously how easy it is to drive. Its been about a month or two since I drove with the stock clutch but I can tell the RPS clutch is stiffer than stock.

I ended up getting the Max Street disc which for now is overkill since I've dyno'd 238whp but I plan on going with the APS kit when it is available for the G35. The consensus from everyone I've talked to is that RPS is one of the best out there. From what I've heard this is what people use in very high powered cars at the strip.

The RPS flywheel is a little bit lighter than the stock but not half as drastic as the tilton. That is where my dissapointment is. The Tilton rev's up so quick that you get addicted to it. Now that I've gone back closer to stock the difference is very noticeable.

Overall I would say if you plan on staying N/A..dont mind the noise the tilton makes and you care about performance more than anything else get the Full Street Tilton assembly. Otherwise I'd recommend the JWT, I think it would have better performance than the RPS. Me personally I wanted a clutch and flywheel that can take whatever I throw at it so I think I made the right choice. If anyone lives near the atlanta area Z1Motorsports has the clutch and flywheel in stock and can install it the same day you purchase.

APS makes a turbo kit for the 350, no clutch or flywheel though.

I'm looking for 500hp+ so the RPS is ideal to me.

N/A I'd say the Full Street version of the Tilton clutch but that can only hold up to 320hp. I wouldn't recommend the Semi Street version unless you have a LOT of patience and skill.

I'm not sure how much the JWT can hold but I know its nothing too extreme. From what I've heard the JWT clutch and flywheel is good for performance and still driveable every day. The JWT flywheel is 4lbs lighter than the RPS flywheel.

im aiming for 600WHP... so actually i didnt want a flywheel that was too light... I dont know if I could have handled the quicker revs... may have been too fast for me at that level...

Thats why i went with RPS

Wow! Tonio, that interesting that you say that. I was actually going to get the RPS package but i could find the weight of the flywheel anywhere online. I called someone and i found out it wasn't that far off from stock. I figured there wouldn't be too much of a difference in acceleratioin so i decided to go with the JWT. I was going to get the tilton initially but i heard it's conservatively rated for 300hp. But as i am planning on going TT, even if it holds up to 350 give or take some i'll still need a stronger clutch. The JWT apparantly holds more, its the mid weight betweent the three and it was the cheapest! Quite an easy decision for me! I'll let u all know once i have it in how i like it. I think i'm gonna have it all installed all at once when i get the Crawford plenum and cats. i was thinkin of pulleys also. Thanks for the review man!

I have the jwt clutch and flywheel and have driven the rps as well. The rps is much stiffer the jwt is like stock and smoother. I do think the rps grabs more its not as easy to slip as the jwt. I was told by sgp who has all the info on there website that both are rated about 500hp 500trq max. Others who have driven both please let me know if u agree

Hey 5thgenluder, i just noticed in your sig. that you have the Greddy TT wtih 360whp. I thought the Greddys got more than that. What psi are you running and has it been tuned? I see the pump fuel system is on the way...

kyle reccommended the JWT clutch with the RPS flywheel for what I wanted 600WHP as a substitute for the ATS... carbon clutch..
I went with the RPS flywheel as the package as well..

I dont plan on beating the crap outta my car all the time so I felt the ATS was a little to pricey for what I needed.

As for the question by sponsorsthisway..

I have the kit at stock boost and Im making 355whp... and thats with my cats gone with just downpipes and no other tuning... maybe you were thinking of HP vs WHP?... sorry not trying to insult your intellingence... just making sure you werent confusing the two... the greddy kit can make much more power.. but thats around what it should do with stock boost out of the box... less than that if you have the stock cats.

No, i was thinking whp. Thats actually why i asked. Because i want to go with the Greddy kit myself, i had thought that the kit did get much more than that when tuned as you said. I had thought that the kit gets 370-80ish when running everything else stock. The number just seemed a tad bit short of what i had expected and i just wanted to ask about your setup. Still awesome number i one day wish to see.

even with those numbers there are many other ways to increase whp.. remember all i did was delete the cats... you could get lighter flywheel/clutch... pully, larger exhaust.... its very possible to get to those numbers you mentioned at stock boost.
