Default $1k to make a whole new animal...

Just getting you guys opinions.

I already have jwt intake/nismo exhaust/topspeed headers/UR pulley/and nismo wheels.

I believe I can make this a completely different car for under a $1000.00. Tell me what you think! Would this be a killer combo, or should my cash go else where?

Stillen engine brace
Plenum Spacer
Hi-flo cats (Kinetix/crawford...recommedations?)
Hotchkis lowering springs
Hotchkis sway bar combo

My thoughts were:
It will look better because of the springs (lowered)
It will handle better because of the sway bars
It will drive faster because of the plenum spacer/hiflo cats
It will drive smoother because of the engine brace (idle/wheel hop/ect)

^ = new animal!

Sound good? Should I do it differently?

PS- I will be stillen charging the Z, but not for awhile (a year or so) and I have no problems with buying mods and selling them later at half price or whatever when I go F/I.

Don't think plenum spacer and high-flow cats are going to make as big of a difference as you think.

Adding go-fast stuff is fun, no doubt......but the biggest kick I've gotten is after adding handling mods - suspension and/or swaybars. You have a good start on your speed goodies...take a break & add some handling - you'll love it!! Maybe add a few $$ to your $1k & go with shocks, springs & sways - the Z will track like it's on rails - too much fun! That's the only way to make it feel like a "completely different car" for $1k...IMO

If it were my $1K

Get the crawford cast plenum over the plenum spacer. Get the hotchkis TVS (sways and springs). You are almost out of cash with just those two pieces, but I wouldn't get HFC, get some good resonated test pipes - ie Labree resonated test pipes. The SES light that you may or may not be concerned about can be dealt with if it comes on.

Why would you say stupid **** like "I don't think they will make your car as fast as you think blah blah" when all I said is "faster"?

Jesus.

Back on topic:

I will be totally happy with ANY improvement over what I have now.

I looked into coilovers, but they are a bit out of my price range. I also have to buy new tires, that's why I only have a K to spend on fun stuff.

I'll check more into the crawford plenum- I thought that the "claims" for the spacer and the plenum were pretty close to each other. Aren't most people reporting between 6-9rwhp gained with either one?

Some people want high flow cats for less noise and / or wanting to not be excessive polluters.

I have read a lot of complaints about the rasp of the test pipes. Is the noise worth the difference in power between test pipes and high flow cats?

All that I think anyone is trying to do is answer your post asking for "opinions".

It wasn't a smart *** comment. I simply said I don't think you're going to notice a difference like you think you will. Since you're already so modded as it is, I don't believe you are going to notice it being any faster.

Agreed with what someone else said, get a lightweight flywheel, you'll notice a HUGE difference.

You want to spend $1k, i'm trying to let you know what you're going to feel like you gained a lot of power with. So you don't waste your money.

I made my comments about suspension mods based on this portion of your original post..... & I think nis350ztt was as well. With the mods you have now, I don't think a plenum spacer/plenum & cats will make your car feel "completely different." Yes, they will add a great sound & a few HP & maybe a bit off your e.t. time - to me that would be worth it as well! But, from personal experience when I installed some suspension mods, the first words out of my mouth after driving was "God, if I had known what a difference these made I would've done them first!" - ha! I said that after first installing just the sways then said it again after the suspension - drives like a completely different car, for sure.

Now when you say "I'll be totally happy with any improvement" in your subsequent post, for speed alone a lightweight flywheel will make a good different in how the Z revs ($400), a Crawford plenum ($395) & cats ($499) - a little more than $1k, but what the heck....... those will give you an improvement!! Happy modding!!!!

Ooooohhhh... I didn't think about the flywheel. What's the install price on one of those?

Mods add up Nis350! Go back and check out my first post- I think a better handling, better looking, more powerful (no matter how much), more stable car makes for a different car than I have now! Look at the big picture, don't just focus on the power factor.

I was hoping to see if some people knew of some things I might have over looked. Like the flywheel.

I'm pretty much stuck with a $1000 for this this go-around. I was hoping to get more than just one toy.

Also, does anyone know if there is more than a 2 or 3 hp difference between a plenum and a spacer?

I think the stillen brace will make the car rougher, because more engine vibration will transfer to the chassis.

rdlab1 - The flywheel is for manual trannies.....talk to some auto guys & they'll direct you toward a torque converter mod - I don't know much about them. Hope this helps!
