Default 05 AT Throttle blip

I've read about the 05 having the throttle blip, so does anyone know if it can be put on an 04/03 AT Z? I would think that it comes from the ECM as opposed to the tranny, bt I'm not really sure. Anybody know?

You're probably thinking of the Manual Mode Downshift Rev-matching on the 05 5AT. I'm not aware of any mods short of a tranny replacement that will give the 03/04 5AT the same feature. It might even just be an ECU reprogram.

On the 5AT, the rev-matching feature doesn't give you any performance gains. It just gives you smoother downshifting when you are in manual mode. On the 03/04, if you move the lever back to the Auto Mode, the transmission will automatically rev-match and synchronize for you. In the pre 05, if you want to rev-match the downshifts in Manual Mode you have to manually blip the throttle yourself. On the 5AT it's not easy to do. If you like to rev-match and you are looking at an 03 or 04 get the 6MT.

Yes, if you are fast enough and able to time it right, you can start accelerating on throttle just before you downshift and hopefully you will blip just before the TC couples or locks. This only applies when you are in manual mode on an 03/04. The 05 does it automatically when you are in manual mode. It's not easy and it's not really necessary with the 5AT. Do it right and you get a smoother shift. Do it wrong and you get a nice clunk or slow, jerky shifting. The latter usually happens unless you are extremely skilled and even then it happens often. If you have an 03/04 and you want synchronized downshifts just stick it in auto mode and let the computer do it. Other than smoother downshifts, I'm not aware of any performance gains from rev-matching the 5AT.

it just the ecu. and it really wouldn't be worth it to swap for an '05 ecu. unless of course you just have money to waste. i would get an upgraded tc or valve body before worrying about rev-matching.

Brian at technosquare says that the throtle closes back to 85% wot somewhere before redline to make it easier on the drivetrain and also to discourage hitting the rev-limiter. When they reflash a unit they take this out so that it stays at 100% wot till you let off the pedal.

We discussed this on a reflash for our procharged auto as I tended to think it was a good idea to leave the 85% blip in so that it would be a little easier on the automatic transmission internals during wot shifting since we are already stressing the tranny enough by running a S/C
