Default Using 10w/30 alright?

I went to the store and did not even notice that I picked up 10w/30. I used it in my turbo civic so I don't know why it would be a problem here. It does get pretty hot in the summer.

Who cares what the owners manual says. They say not to put performance products on your car, but I still do. I just want to find out if it will be alright and if anyone else is running it. Why such people post things like this so I can get mad. No one cares about what Nissan says because if they did then they would not be F/I their cars. Thanks Zboy for giving it to me straight other then telling me to look in my manual.

I use 10W30, the VQ seems to like it better. I am still not comfortable with 5W30 in the summer. 10W30 does'nt shear as easily either. If you want to be an oil know it all.... From http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/...cgi?category=1

10Ws have less tendency to "burn off" or lose volume when stressed at temp than 5Ws. Well again, oils are very well made these days and its less likely to happen although most 10Ws will have better #s than their 5W counterparts.

10Ws will stay in grade longer because they are at the "thicker" end of the viscosity range for 30wts. Makes sense, since they start out alittle "thicker", it takes more time to shear out of grade. Again, in a 3~5K interval, may be a moot point.

Even with all of this, I still use a 5W for colder temps and a 10W for the warmer weather. But thats just me

So if you dont't care what the owners manual says what difference would it make to you what you put in your car. Just use whatever since the what the true experts don't matter.

I would trust the manual on the reccomended lubricants before anyone on this board(except a very select few). The manual is very clear on this subject, you evidently didn't read it, hence your ignorant and pointless question.

I use 5w30 here in San Diego. I am switching to 10W30 on my next oil change now that I have 35K miles on my Z. No problems with 5w30.

I run 10w30 Mobil One. I noticed a little higher oil pressue when cold. Runs great and its the only weight I run, expecially since I live in a warm climate.

Manual prefers 5W-30, but also clearly states that 10W-30 can be used in warmer temps.

Heck -- 15W-30 is probably fine.

I use 5W-30 M1 -- but ill probably switch to 10W-30 at my next change.

I use mobil SuperSyn 5w30 on my F/I set up and I'm located in Miami, it gets really hot down here, works great for me. I was debating myself on the last oil change if I should go 5w30 or 10w30. Anyways, you should be fine with 10w30.

I started using 10W-30 except during winter, and I prefer them over 5W-30.
Right now I'm using Motul 300V 10W-30 and this is by far the best oil I've used.

I do NOT recommend 10/40w read up on it, most manufactures and racing say the spread of 10/40w takes too many modifiers to achieve this rating and the modifiers break down quickly. I run 10/30w, 5/30w is fine too.
