The CVT is a great concept.... but you can't beat a manual, they're just too much fun.

Good night!
You can rip on American Auto trannys all you want.. however I know of several people running Ford C6 Trannys that don't mind losing 70hp off the top... considering they still hit 10.xx in the 1/4...
Cheers.

If I dropped that money into the Z, I'd run... Did I say run? I meant I'd fly...
Nosuchsol, I agree they can be a little biased on the supra sights.
BUT being a Supra owner myself I can honestly say it's hands down the best car I've ever owned. And I have yet to see anything even compare to it. My friend is regretting ever selling his Supra to get his Porsche. It is and will always be one of the best sports cars ever made.
Now back to Mike. Where in any of my posts have I made a contradiction to myself? How can I be a hypocrit? Like someone else mentioned above. About 95% of the posts have been constructive and you've mocked them all. Yet you cried out asking why the car was losing such power and that you were dissapointed. I think everyone is tired of repeating themselves on here. You're unhappy with the car then sell it. Get yourself a nice new Audi. You seem to be more the soccer mom type anyway.

And by the way I already own an Audi you moron
Take your supra and your crowler and drive yourself somewhere else where people care about your opinion. You're a hypocrit because you're blaming me for things you do yourself. What wasn't true that I said about the crowler? What you're embarrased of it now? If you don't like it go sell it (like you tell me).
Please don't reply to me I'm not interested in what you have to say. Go open your own thread and then talk to yourself or something.
Shoo troll shoo

3,500.00 is all it takes me to hit mid 11s... why would you need 13K? Dear god.. LOL
Just keeping it real .. LOL Im serious about the aftermarket part though.. are they making any aftermarket stuff yet?

But if I had to spend it on the Z performance then I'd start with some boost and then... well there is no end to what you can do.Maybe not too much stuff is out now but there will be... patience my friend...
By the way, here's the dyno run. The better one is stock and the lower one is with an intake - don't ask... working on it.
I don't have a scanner so a photo of a paper copy is going to have to do for now...

Mike,
before you flame and attack me for some ridiculous reason that you find justified, you need to chill and act a little more mature. Most if not everyone in this thread was showing wisdom and was applying problem solving strategies, while you were acting like a 5 year old.
Some of the stuff you've said in this topic is extremely ridiculous and you also contradict yourself.
Other than that, enjoy the Z!

Sportcompact Magazine posted this from their Dyno. They are getting 249 on a chassis dyno and it offers linear torque which is what I love about the car. You don't feel the pop or the acceleration but when you look down at the spedo you are just gone.
All Z models are powered by the same 24-valve aluminum 3.5-liter V6 that Nissan uses in the Infiniti G35, the Maxima and the Altima. The engine uses Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS) and is rated in the Z at 287 hp at 6200 rpm and 274 lb-ft of torque at 4800 rpm. Our tester was equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, but a five-speed automatic is offered on the Enthusiast and Touring Models. Power reaches the rear differential through a carbon-fiber reinforced plastic driveshaft, which is a first for Nissan, and offers a 40 percent weight reduction over steel.
On the chassis dyno, the V6 backed up its power claims. We measured 249 hp at 6300 rpm and 240 lb-ft of torque at 4800 rpm--more than we expected based on the rating. And check out that torque curve--flat as a plasma screen TV. Notice how the horsepower dips and the torque drops dramatically at 5300 rpm, however. This is noticeable on the road, and keeps you from wanting to drive the engine past its 6600 rpm redline.

Care to back that up? Give examples of me contradicting myself and saying ridiculous "stuff"...
As far as acting like a 5 year old that's not uncommon of me...

If BMW made the Z, it would dyno at 258 rwhp.

I don't know about that, but I think if BMW made the Z it would cost $50,000+
If you read internetabyss posts about his talk with the nissan engineer you will find out why your intake mod is giving you less hp. To save you time, the engineer said no intake mods will produce any extra hp unless the intake sensor is tricked or the computer is remapped. Your quality of gas, temperature, humidity, and accuracy of the dyno cann produce a difference in your results. Most dynos probably have a 5% error factor due to friction when it comes to measuring actual horsepower. Plus the gear ratio you chose was off (not 1-1). What Dynos are good for is measuring your increase or decrease in HP for your mods. As long as you use the same dyno in roughly the same conditions it is a useful tool.
