Default ECU Reflashing??

Hey guys, had a question. I currently own a '03 Track model and I recently installed the HKS intake and HKS Hi Power exhaust. I also ordered the Kinetix V4 plenum, HFC, and AlphaWerks headers. Questions is: will I need an ECU reflash with this set up? Will the stock ecu handle this? I'm asking because I hear many people on this board say that the ecu corrects itself. Also, if I do need a reflash, will it void my warranty? Who does the reflash and how much? Thanks!!

you don't need it, but it will help. it wont void your warranty. go to this website although other companies also do flashes.

after you complete your na mods, dyno your car. if you're lean, a reflash will help your a/f. however, if you need warranty work and they can see that your ecu has been removed, they COULD try to void your warranty.
My friend die die talked to a nissan rep when he had his tranny replaced. the rep said breathing mods, other than fi or nitrous, do NOT void the warranty. neither will a 3.9 final drive. ud pulley and computer modification WILL.

Great! Thanks for the link! I take it that the ecu doesn't correct itself then? The main concern is that I just don't want to lose power after spending so much money on aftermarket parts to make more.

wow, 3 posts. you really should search this site and educate yourself, bro. read zland's thread on mods.
ecu will cut fuel if it sees emissions out of whack, resulting in less power.
the z is a fickle mistress when it comes to mods.

The ECU needs to be reset after you install your mods. You should be fine on 93 octane goodness but you will not be running at 100% efficiency. I have Exhaust, Y-pipe, Test Pipes, and Intake for my breathing mods and will soon be adding a set of headers and an intake manifold (from 350EVO once they release it). I have no problems whatsoever. I reset my ecu after every mod and always run premium (93 octane) fuel. You should be fine with bolt ons, however once you get cams and other internals a reflash, standalone or piggyback become necessary.

Hmm is 93oct fuel necessary with just these mods? I'm running 91 and I don't experience any knocking....*knock on wood* (I've got just the intake plenum and exhaust)

Thanks ReavTek! I was trying to find someone on the forum with similiar mods and see if they've had any problems.

why would you reset the ecu and send everything back to the most conservative fuel map? i don't understand. when i installd my crawford plenum, the instructions said do not reset the ecu.

Wow, I'm glad to hear this. I've been thinking about a 3.9 final drive but expected it would void the warranty...

anybody else have any experience with the 3.9FD and warranty issues? If this is a warranty-safe mod, I think I'll be getting it soon...

Thanks

I think a reflash is needed after a fair amount of na mods. I think the ecu will adjust itself to the mods and will detune the parameters. I raced my friends bone stock the other day, and i was barely able to inch away from him. With all the stuff i have done (crawford package, hks hi-power, injen intake) i expect to pull a little harder. I will reflash as soon as i have extra cash and will let you guys know.
