Default Tilton Flywheel and clutch

Will the street version of the Tilton 8lb flywheel and the clutch help or hurt my 1/8 and 1/4 mile times? I have heard that the light flywheels hurt your launch so much it was bad for drag racing. Any thoughts?

it's hard to properly launch with the tilton - you can, but since it's so light it's just really really really tricky

it's great for when you're already up to speed like on a road coarse or for highway fun

the advantage of the clutch only helps in 1st thru 3rd gear

4th is barely different
5th and 6th are pretty much the same too

a buddy of mine ran a 13.6 with the tilton street assembly but he was also on slicks.

I dropped about 3/10ths of a second with the Tilton. And If I could hook up, I would probably drop 1/2 second.

it all comes down to how good of a driver you are, and how sensitive your feet are.

Once you figure it out, you can launch pretty well with this thing, but getting there is most of the fun/pain

So you think with a half was decent driver, the Street version 8lb Flywheel and Clutch package will help my 1/4 mile times?

more accurately -- you need a skilled driver (i.e. someone who can differentiate minute differences in pedal pressure and feel), and you also need someone who will go out there and practice it

no matter how good you are, it definitely takes some getting used to
