Default oem long oil filter vs. oem short oil filter?

I was looking on the performance nissan site (mynismo.com) and noticed they have an oem long oil filter and a oem short oil filter? Whats the difference and is one better then the other? Thanks

get the OEM long filter. It is an older (and better) design with metal endcaps. The short oil filter looks like it is for a 2 stroke motorcycle engine.

ok thanks. I was also wondering why the filter for the 350z is so small? I bought a FRAM one recently (and it was friggin expensive 7.99?! WTF? at Kragens) and its tiny, smaller then the one for my civic

Just get the Mobil 1 M1-105 oil filter, it's almost twice as big as the oem one, but it fits perfect.
