Revs bouncing at idle.... What does this mean???
I have a 03 track with CAI, exhaust, and TP's. The revs move very slightly when at idle but deffinatly enough to notice, I am under the impression this is not suppost to be happening. Any help? Thanks in advance!!!
lot's of people are plagued with rough idle and missfires at idle. Never understood what it was... I don't know if it's normal or not, but almost every single Z I heard has some sort of pops and exhaust burps at at idle, and especially when revving at idle.

Ahhhh yes, right after the install of my plenum i noticed it aswell, nothing too major but enough to make me worry. After months of a lil bit of rough idle I got used to it and it doesn't bother me much anymore. It never stalls so I have no problem......
Your Idle should not be bouncing at all, its not normal, it means the ecu is receiving incorrect values on certain things, and is making adjustments to correct. if you have tp's you may have something loose, the O2 sensor may be bad, the wire connector may be loose, or got wet, something on the intake is loose, etc. its not normal. i have test pipes, exhaust, intake, plenum etc and have periodically encountered a bad idle, which i corrected when i investigated it.
i had an issue with rough idle too
the only mod i had done at the time was my K&N Typhoon
checked it out and i hasnt fastened the metal clip on the filter and intake pipe securely
screwed it tight, reset the ECU and its fine
i have noticed though when disengaging the clutch coming to a set of lights and going into neutral, the revs take a second or so to drop down to idle, seemingly doing it in fixed rpm steps. Have you guys got this too?

Dealership told me nothing was wrong ..I took mine in cause it does this also, stock off the lot, they said well maybe the varible valves??
It's common practice for manufacturers to set idle as low as possible in order to meet increasingly strict emissions laws.
I noticed mine became rough after breathing mods...which I too have read is normal. It's just running leaner now that more air is getting to the engine.
You can fix this by having the dealership bump the idle value up 100rpm using their Consult Diagnostic Tool.

Ok, I have the same problem but a little more extreme. I've had an intake and exhaust for a few months now with no problems. Well actually the car shut down on my once while one the highway a month and a half ago but I heard that happens every now and then with people who have the pop charger. I restarted the car and never had any problems since, not even idle problems.
Today, early in the afternoon I was driving and pressed the clutch in while coming to a stop, put the car in neutral and rolled, then the car stalled out. Restarted just fine. Then about 20 minutes ago, the same thing happened. When I press the clutch in the rpms drop to about 400, then jump to around 1000, then fluctuate (sp?) My best guess was bad gas. My last fill up was with BP 93octane, I had about a quarter tank left so I refilled with Shell V-Power then came right home so I didn't get to see if it fixed the problem. On a side note I have been driving sort of hard this week, but not much different then ever before. Besides the above posts, anyone have any new guesses or recomendations?? Thanks
