build my auto, or swap it for a heavy duty manual
does anyone know how much each would be, i was told that a level 10 auto would run me around 5000 dollars, would just swapping the pos for a heavy duty manual be a better idea for FI?

it is more economical to trade in your car and take the loss and get a 6mt...
I worked out the pricing once... it is less expensive to trade for a manual...

I would not have level 10 rebuild the tranny. One guy on the forums already tried that and the tranny lasted shorter than the stock tranny!! If you search the FI threads you will find the info. Basically a good VB upgrade, possibly a more efficient TC and a tranny fluid cooler at this time are the things that should help the 5AT hold up to FI, but nobody really knows how long or just how much power it can sustain with even those mods.

SGP has a built tranny for sale. sgpracing.com They had problems with Level 10 and use a new company that they are happy with. Less than 5K too. Check the website, there are prices on there and the phone number. I just checked the website. It's priced at $3249.95 shipped. Their phone number is 281-444-9195. The site says the tranny has been proven to 800+hp.

I have also been looking for the same thing, because i plan on turning up the boost once the summer ends, (less likely to break something) but SGP is still in the production stages of working out there auto trannys, these trannys are soo new i dont see how some of these companys already have reinforced parts and new friction plates....i contacted SGP and they told me they are in the stages though of finishing it up, and told me they would contact me in about 3-4 weeks...just to give you the heads up, the only reason im going with this 1st is because i want the tranny to be able to handle the power before i rebuild the motor and crank the boost on it...

This is really good to hear as SGP getting away from Level 10 is music to my ears!! Having a company like SGP stand behind a product will be a great option for us 5AT guys that want to put down high HP/TQ.

So basically, you have to pay another 3,000 - 4,000 for a transmission ontop of the turbo/super kit cost to install in an automatic?

How about if you just want to put a supercharger or a turbocharger in it?
Would it be possible for a Twin turbo?
I'm just looking for 350 or 375 hp, no higher then 400hp

A SC would be easier on the tranny because you are not making gobs of TQ like the TT. With a TT setup you would at least want a good VB upgrade, and if you start to make more power with a SC the VB upgrade would again be the first thing to do. I would recommend a tranny fluid cooler now and for anyone going FI or highly NA modified. Its easy and cheap to install one and the reduced heat on the tranny will help it survive and perform. A VB upgrade is not terribly expensive. The upgraded VB usually runs around $700-$800 plus install. The install will be a little bit even if you do it yourself because the Nissan Matic J fluid is ~$10/qt and you need 11-12 qts with a cooler inline. I also recommend that you order another gasket and bolt set for the tranny fluid pan or you may run into leakage issues.
I am going to get a tranny cooler, probably next year, but what is a VB upgrade?
PS: I thought S/C was the one you get if you wanted torque and the turbo is what you get when you want high end HP, since it needs to spool?
PSS: what is the "6mt rear end" in your signiture mean?

Valve Body upgrades on 5ATs firm up and quicken shifts. Increased line pressure is a contributing factor of this upgrade.
SC gives you more torque down low, and then linear torque as you accelerate. Turbos take a little more time to make boost, but then torque comes on like a freight train, all the way to redline.
His Z is equipped with a 5AT, which came with a stock 3.3 final drive gear. The 6MT rear end has a shorter stock 3.5 final drive gear, for more peppy acceleration around town in any gear. Also, since the final drive gear ratio change is small, there is very little negative impact on gas mileage.

^^^ What he said
Also, I have more mods than my sig because for some reason it will not allow me to change it. I do have a Valve Body upgrade, a Torque Converter upgrade, a tranny fluid cooler and some other suspenions modifications as well.
