Default Cusco LSD Type RS 1.5 350Z Installed! And thanks to Sharif@Forged!

Well I bought my Cusco LSD Type RS 1.5 a couple of months back, since well I have the Base version 350Z... Which means it came from the factory with a open diff, so it was not great before with one wheel giving... But after the turbo install was much more important

Sharif@Forged set up the install at Carolina Performance Racing which is in Charlotte NC. Which is great since they just did his LSD, so I felt very comfortable making the drive up there for the install.

First off everyone at the shop was very friendly, and they did a great quick job on the install... Less than two hours to get it in and it runs so great...

So smooth, no sounds, and it grips like a mother...

Drove all the way back home to Georgia and it was great, it feels so much better and I haven't even gotten on it yet.

Sherif got to take it around so he could get a impression on any differences which I hope he will add to this thread

Oh yeah you def. need the two oil seals, two diff. bearings, and two axle stubs (make sure you get the ones that go for the Z's/G35's that already have LSD from the factory) all for the rear for this LSD to install correctly.

Very nice. What did the total come out to for the diff and install?

$1,065 for the Cusco LSD shipped, and around $300 for the diff. install with Royal Purple gear fluid

So much cheaper than what shops round here wanted to charge me along with having zero LSD experience with the Z.

Other places were like 500 dollars or more depending on the install, and I am certain it would have taken them two days to do the install and possibly not correctly.

Hey Jonathan, glad you were happy with the diff install...glad to help.

How is the chatter after the break-in. Your LSD comes factory set at 100% lock, which some people find too much. When driving your car in the lot, it didnt seem too chattery, and I am curious how it feels now.

We have another customer's car here, with the same LSD, but his is very noisy. Also has different gears.

I bet it corners and grips like mad!


Did you change to fresh oil? What kind?

Did you change to fresh oil? What kind?
Actually folk, there is no chatter... Only sound is at low turning speeds when the inner wheel is gripping.

I also have not had time to drain and fill along with rain recently... So I have been slacking on changing the diff. oil. But I will soon, along with a oil and tranny oil change

Thinking of using all Royal Purple oils, kinda of label ***** so I have to be somewhat consistant in names when I can

Also may want to try Redline 75W-90. I've had this in my Nismo for a while now. Even though you have no chatter I did and it got rid of it...However I will say that when I emailed Nismo USA to ask what gear oil to run after break in the said Royal Purple. Besides they sell it at Pep Boys now.

Yeah Redline is my first choice, but I figure you really can't go wrong either way
