Default UR Crank pulley...*** it...

I got it about a year and a half ago and it has been a PITA ever since.
A noticeable difference in power but not worth it for me.

I seem to be the only one with this problem....

5 days after it was first installed a rythmic squeak began.

At first I thought they put on the wrong belts, Nope...

Long story short I have had the issue worked on by Mossy Oceanside No less then 5 times! yes five! Each time we used different sized belts and we experimented with different tensions from super tight to so loose that I got loud squeals on cold starts.

Thank god I installed it there because all of these five times they changed belts and performed labor for free.

The fourth time I took it in they sent the pully to UR who sent back another and still I get an "ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee" at idle. VEry annoying sound but that is the only problem. While the pulley was off I had the stock back on and it was quiet again.

WTF?

I have read about 30 posts about successful UR pulley installs. Why is it only me that gets this annoying Fukn noise??

I am going to take the damn thing off because I can't stand picking up women and having the purr of the engine covered by this squeak eek eek eek sound.

Any ideas or help? Please no posts about harmonic balancers or that *****. the subject has been belabored ad nauseum in other threads.

Again there is no slippage and I have tried all belt sizes and this is my second pulley.

Anybody else have this problem?

I have the polished pulley, maybe I should try the anodized ones?

Hmmmm, I had the pulley on my old z (300zx) for like a year or 2 with no problems.

I will definitely get this mod for my 350z (when I have money, hahaha)

That's weird.

Can you try using one belt, then add the other until you find which one cause the squeal? I have a black UR pulley, no squeals, just a little vibration when idling down in 1st gear. I am using the belts that Performance nissan sells, I think they were Gates, hard as a rock...I'd make sure that the other pullies are not dirty...

I get a little squeal on cold mornings at start-up. Happens once every few months and last for only a few seconds.

Maybe the problem is with one of the idlers that just shows up when the UR pulley is on.

Your belts are too loose. Just tighten them a notch

joust:

Try to get the belt that's SLIGHTLY skinner.... my friend had this issue before as well, but once he swapped it to the belt which is SLIGHTLY skinner (less width, not the length)... the squeal said good bye to the car already.... apparently the belt that UR supplied him (although we got the pulley at the same time from UR) is SLIGHTLY wider and the belt edge was the thing making the squeal.... give it a try!

cheers,

richie

Mine makes a little ee-ee sound but it is barely noticable and only if i have the hood up and my ear to the pulley. No squeal at all when idling or driving around town is noticable. That width may be an issue but really I don't notice it at all. Test pipe rasp is FAR more annoying.

This sounds like the problem and is good advice indeed.

What puleys are you all using that are not giving you problems? also where can I get pulleys like these?

I initially wanted Good year gatorbacks but could not find them anywhere.

Edit: Thank you for good advice!

yes we sell Gates belts...

We also install these pulley's and havent had any issue that wasnt able to be fixed...

http://performancenissanparts.com/ca...roducts_id=675

do you have only the underdrive?

if you have the correct size belts you shouldnt get squeeking...

I get squeeking on my car only because I have an open hood and the belts get soaking wet in the rain... I replace them frequently, when it doesnt rain they are perfect...

but, no issues, except when it rains...

Tony / Andy / Myself (jason) have the UR Pulleys on our cars... no issues...

an aluminum pulley will be louder than a non - the skinnier belt should work just fine, but first I'd make sure they are tight and that the belts are free of any residue. There is a slotted bracket on the passenger side that allows the belt tension to be altered

I installed the KJR billet pulley; it's not undersized, just a lot lighter. After getting the crank bolt properly torqued, the KJR has been a trouble-free and well-performing mod.

Sorry to hear. Did you try Gates or Good YEar Gator backs? Members seem to have no problems with these.

I am going to try one more time with them. Mind you this will be the fifth time I have changed belts

At least Mossy Nissan is doing it for free.
