Default Who swapped their own differential?

I am gowing to swap my differential tonight if all goes well. How long did it take you? Any special tools needed? Is it straight forward, unbolt/rebolt? Any help would be appreciated.

I didn't do it myself but watched the whole thing and it is basically just unbolt the axles and driveshaft and be careful as it is heavy, depending on whuch exhaust you have you might have to remove it as well.

I've done it in a Supra. Just have a jack holding the diff up while you remove the driveshaft and unbolt the diff. Its about 80 or 90 lbs including the pumpkin. If you need to drain the diff fluid make sure you do it prior to removing. Its easy but i would recomment a 2nd person just to help incase something goes wrong.

I never even thought about the exhaust! I read the manual and it said to remove the sway bar, but I wasn't sure if I really needed to.

I don't recall the swaybar coming off but the Z I got my diff from they had to take the exhaust off as he had a dual, mine was OK as it was a Fujitsubo/single.

If you have a 350EVO rear sway bar it makes the removal a little less painless. It also may depend on what exhaust you have.
Its not too bad of a project though...drive shaft, axles, wheel speed sensor connection, Rear sub frame stud... with a jack pumped up underneath the housing.... loosen the two bolts going up into the sub frame...dont remove them completlty yet...let it hang down just a bit and dissconnect the diff breather tube. then take her downt eh rest of the way
When putting a new unit back in be sure not to pinch the wheel speed sensor wires!

Thanks for the input guys. The borla was a slight pain. I think the worst part was trying to disconnect the breather hose... it was in a tight spot. I ran out of time, so I'll be bolting the new one up tomorrow.

dwnshift, if I do happen to pinch the wires, I am guessing it will throw a cel? Can I swap the wires with my other one?
