Lightbulb Throttle body shootout? I just came across this!

Sport Z Magazine or someone should do a throttle body shootout comparing the 350evo.com, Pro Flow, and Crawford throttle bodies. I was just browsing my favorites list and stumbled across this

Crawford

Pro Flow

No more 350evo TB? Didn't find it on their site

350evo used to use Proflow, now Proflow does it themselves. I didn't know Crawford had one though. And then there's always the Accufab 90mm TB used on one of the Speed Force Racing built TT engines...

Ohhh, I did not know that. Thanks for the info! One of the craziest ones I have seen was a Q45 throttle body welded on to our plenum. It was on the JIC drift car with air jacks and titanium pipes everywhere

Due you have to have a reflash to take advantage of those throttle bodies?

ITB's are one of the few things that keep me from pulling the trigger on FI

I really wouldn't mind doing a full out built NA engine,

port heads
11.5:1 or even higher CR pistons
101 octane
nismo S1 or more aggressive cams
ferrea valves/springs
eagle rods
rev to 7500

with ITB's could put you somewhere in the 320-350whp range - no one really knows and not have the extra 80-100 lbs of FI at the nose of the car

The car would react faster than FI and each gear would last longer going to 7500 and the cams would make power up high, less shifting - even with 3.91 FD. Handling would be better, and it would sound wicked mean, but I know it isn't as exotic sounding as 400whp and higher.

still waiting for more options to become available.......

I would like to do almost the exact same thing, except I wanted to rev to 8000. I heard that the ferrea valve springs should not be reved pasted 7400, have you heard anything on this?

no i was guessing on the 7500 - just that general area

i don't think 8000 really will be very possible and expected to last that long from what i've been hearing

7500 would be fine, but 8000 just sounds nice. Why do you say that?

we could do it with the earlier models all that is different is the lower plenum and the cams.so i dont see why we cant do it.

I heard they use slightly different internals as well (pistons and some other stuff)

the rods and pistons on the new engine are slightly stronger

if you get forged rods and pistons and some good valve springs, i'm sure you could do it with no sweat and it'll handle it just fine

what's the deal with FI and reving that high though? I'm assuming it's drastically worse for the engine, but what about even on a built engine?

I know usualy people with FI don't have crazy cams unless it's a race car with race gas. That's an advantage over FI I think that NA has is it can rev like that and make power on regular pump gas

I beg to differ. A tuned NA VQ will sound 2000 times better than any turbocharged VQ.

Patience is our key for ITB That might just be my new sig!

hehe yeah I was just meaning the phrase "400whp and higher" not the actual exhaust/engine sounds those cars make

people always look at the numbers, and it's easy to ignore stuff like 100 lbs of weight in the front, gearing, reving really high etc. It's harder to quantify that stuff than 400 is more than 350

So, if I go ITB without a reflash I won't be taking full advantage of it? I plan on getting a limited flash in a few weeks and from what I understand it allows the TB to open 100% (AAM limited flash)

ITB is individual throttle bodies - so 6 of them. You're talking about a single bored one

yeah word has it you want the flash to really take advantage of it. When I put it on my car, I couldn't say I noticed much difference - yes I have a flash
