Thumbs up Street Image finishes another car

Just got my car back from Street Image. I had Nismo cams, JWT flywheel, Nismo Clutch, 350EVO 3.9 gears and the Nismo dif cooler cover installed.

Everything went smoothly, except for the JWT cluth I originally wanted being on back order (which is why I have the Nismo now), and their mechanic getting sick which delayed when my car was completed. But, Roy and Eric at Street Image came through and even picked up some of my rental car costs.

They also discovered a coolant leak in the bypass block from my Kinetix plenum, and replaced the whole thing with a single hose, FOR FREE! I was stuned that a shop actually did something with out charging me for it.

Great customer service, and worth the hour and a half drive from San Diego.

Thanks guys.

Oh yea, the car pulls hard now all the way to red line. I lit up the rear wheels at the TOP of the RPM range in 1st gear, just like my old Z32 TT used to do. . Its going to take some time to get used to the new gearing, but I'll have fun doing it.

Just for grins, I tracked my MPG on the way up, and on the way back to compare before and after the 3.9 install. Keeping it around 75-80 most of the way, I got 28.5 on the way up, and 26.3 on the way back.

Nope, the first with CARB exemption. I plan on keeping this car for a long time and don't want to deal with smog hassles.

Hi flo cats and a reflash are also on the list, then I'll be done.

No, but neither can they be detected. I can't believe that they make much difference below 2K rpms which is where the testing is done.

Can you give more of a review on the 3.9 gears?

There are tons of reviews on the 3.9 gears already. Since I got so much other stuff installed at the same time, I really can't speak to exactly what performance gains just the gears give you. My RPMs at 80mph are about 400 higher, and the car really seems to dig from the line better. My only real driving with them so far has been freeway, so I need more time in city/canyon driving to get a good feel for the new gear spacing. It seems very nicely spaced, and with the cams, I have a much wider power band in the upper range to take advantage of it.

Well when you hit the track, let us all know. I've yet to see a 1/4 time with 3.9 gears.

Too bad they closed carlsbad, where do you have to go now to run?
