This is a second attempt to post this querry, the first one was re-located to the G35 area, although it is about modifications.
Anyway, I am having the nagging idea, like many before I'm sure about using the G35x/FX35 parts to convert the Z or the G-coupe (5AT) to AWD.
If anyone knows a reason why it cannot be done or how it can be done and how much will it cost, please post here.
And try not make too much fun of me.

Well, you could weld a sprocket on the front and rear wheel hubs and run a chain from front to back on both sides for about $300... Even cheaper if you mount the sprockets on the wheels themselves, but it might make turning really hard..
A belt might even work too..

my first question is where would you put the transfer case???? the tranny tunnel is pretty tight ........like it was said before if you got the money, someones got the time.......i dont think this is a viable option at all. just buy a g35x or fx35............besides the z is already HEAVY why would you add more weight and rotating mass for the motor to turn.........

Actually, I am starting to realize it myself, if I absoluteley HAVE to have the VQ/AWD combo, I may as well get the G35x. I am positive that people with as much imagination as me, but with expertice to match their imagination (not like in my case) have thought of this, by the virtue of the fact that there are no AWD 350Z and G35c running around, this is a meaningless project, even if it's successful, it will be so expensive and so complex, it will be more cost effective to go out and buy the 2007 GT-R and have it all PLUS the factory warranty. It would be like re-inventing the wheel, but a more expencive, less round wheel. Oh well......
