Default 350z performance enhancent

Hello, first post!

Anyways, was looking at some cheap upgrades for my 04 350z enth.

lightweight pulley, +15 horsepower

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Unort...QQcmdZViewItem

knn filter, +10 horsepower? Autozone quoted me this in their dyno book.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-05...03778151QQrdZ1

computer chip - still looking.

exhaust/headers - still looking.

Comments? Do the pulley and filters look worth the $? Also, any ideas on what to do for exhaust? I don't want the car to sound like crap.

Any comments are appreciated. Thank you

Welcome to the board. Prepare to learn how to use the SEARCH function often. You will find all these items covered better than a fat girl on a cupcake.

The Z is not a bolt-on car, Intake, heads and exhaust won't net you many gains but they are necessary if you want to go all out NA power. First off, don't use ebay... Find vendors or site sponsors or other online retailers that specialize in Z parts. I say that cause 99.9% of the stuff you find on eBay is crap, unless you know what you are looking for don't bother. Don't by no name garbage . You won't really feel a huge gain until you have all your bolt ons in and some cams and a tune done. Probably the best "oomph" mod is the 3.9 Final Drive. Use the SEARCH button and learn what works and what doesn't.

Vendors I Recommend:

Intense Motorsports (www.i-m-racing.com)
Gruppe S (www.gruppe-s.com Just ordered some Cusco sways from them at a great price.)
Hop Up Racing (www.hopupracing.com)
Options Auto Salon (www.opt-auto.com)

Save your money with the KNN filter. I have not found any objective dyno evidence that these have anything more than a psychological effect. There is evidence that traces of oil in the air intake can screw up the air flow sensors, so go easy on the oiling if you buy one.

The motordyne plenum spacer or a crawford plenum will provide HP gains - Motordyne is tested at 11 - 13 RWHP gains. Search the for the group buy currently under way.

Similarly, a good exhaust system will provide RWHP gains of approximately 8 RWHP. Sport Z Magazine did a comparison of 5 exhaust systems quite a while ago and the Borla and Stillen came out ahead in the HP department, with Stillen signifcantly ahead in peak torque.

A good pop charger or a CAI should also add RWHP, especially if combined with the plenum spacer and exhaust. I have not yet found definitive dyno test results on this and am still researching the point.

The real question is whether or not, if you combine mulitiple intake, plenum and exhaust mods that individually are dynoed as adding say, 5, 11, and 8 RWHP respectively, the combined effect is simply the total of all mods, (in my example 24 RWHP), something less or something more?

If anyone has knowledge on this point, I would be interested in hearing from you.

Cheers.

Cams will net you the most power for NA mods... Exhaust & headers after.

You need to drop by the Steele Drag strip one weekend. Either on Fri (alot of people there) or Sun (not many people, better day to practice) and meet up with some of us.
I'll be in Mobile this weekend but, the following weekend i'll be there.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the pulley only adds a max of 5 hp i dynoed it. Yea its a bummer but your reaction time is ALOT BETTER, and accelerate alot quicker!
