Default Free RAM Air?

Anyone familiar with the !FTR Mod on L1's where you cut some plastic off the stock air box to add 5-7 HP?

It seems like our stock intake isn't that bad.

I'm thinking with a K&N and some forced air into the box it might save us some CAI money we can put towards other stuff?

Any ideas on how to get mor air into the box?

I think I'm gonna K&N for now, nothing has impressed me yet on CAI.

The Z is already raming air , we did some checking with a monometer and at 100 mph taking the reading in front of the air filter in the air box at wot it's raming about .03 psi. At part throttle it's raming a whole lot more. We need to do some more testing just haven't had time

So it would seem like keeping the stock air box in place for air feed purposes would make sense in this scenario?

Just add a K&N?

seriously tho, .3psi. at 100mph(you wont ever hit that speed on a track, maybe 60, and higher for like a few seconds on a straight)

thats not gonna give much power. itd be interesting to see what aftermarket gets. Id imagine air flowing directly at the filter would have to get more than the stock location. right?

I looked closely at my stock set up. It's pretty solid. The only air the stock air damn is pulling in is cold air.

A cone shaped one placed higher than the air damn (to avoid weather and turbulence) *might*, I said might, draw warm/hot air too.

I am just up in the air on this CAI and not sold on it yet.

Just gathering facts and info before modding an important area of the engine.

Merry Christmas!!
