Default gearing options?

Okay so I know we can do the 3.9 from 350evo, but can I not just go to a local shop and have a new gearing setup done for not only a different ratio but also for cheaper? My friends with their mustangs (grrr domestics ) can just go to a local shop, pay $700 and get a new ratio INSTALLED. For example, I have a friend who has 4.1 on his cobra and it cost him just over $700 installed, now why don't Z owners do this? I am very uneducated about this. thanks.

Only options are the factory 3.3 and 3.5 gears. Only aftermarket is the 3.9. There is currently nothing else available for the Z.

Exactly......r&d for a 350Z rear end is a little far behind the Ford gear sets that have been around since the 50's. You might be able to find someone out there who could modify something for you....but it would be custom at this point and would be HUGE $$$$$. There is no mixing and matching of several different options to get the desired ratio like in a Ford.
