Question Any Internal Changes on NA Cars??

Has anyone done internal motor changes on their NA car here? Coming from American muscle, I am surprised to not find any examples of NA motors being sleeved and bored, stroked, higher comp, lightweight internals, etc.

I am aware of the JUN and AEBS kits, but their price is super ridiculous and I can't find a single example of them on a NA car. The Stillen sleeves also seem like an option but again no examples. I read posts about using the VQ40 crank but again no one has tried?

I hate to say it, but I am tempted to dump my beautiful G35, frustrated from getting whupped by every Camaro and Mustang GT around. I have 4-5K burning in my pocket, help me spend it (no just go turbo comments please, not everyone cares for them).

Unfortunately the $ vs hp is much higher NA vs FI as you know, so most people dont bother spending thousands to gain 50whp. With around $2000 I picked up 6-7mph over stock in the 1/4 with my bolt-ons, you could try to duplicate the mods list and see if that keeps you from seeing less Domestic tail-lights

I am building a High RPM NA motor...

a Must for any High RPM motor will be strenthend connecting rod bolts (ARP / NISMO), and to check tollerance on the rod bearings / main bearings...

can always cryo treat the crank, but its pretty good as is... same with knife edging... not much to do on the stock crank...

you can do higher compression pistons, 11.5:1, but that gets into a whole other world since you will then have to hone out the cylinders if the motor has alot of miles on it if the piston rings have worked into the walls of the cylinder...

high lift valve springs, relap the valves... cams...

the next most important thing with NA will be tuning...

im shotting to make power up to the high 7XXX rpms... well see how it comes out...

I am building one at the moment... Engine is apart and should be back in 1 or 2 weeks time...

What I have in my engine are:
Forged overbore 11.5:1 compression pistons
Carrillo A-beam con rods
Cylinder bore+hone
Cylinder head works
Nismo Valve springs
Nismo Spec 1 Cams (Int 276 11.0mm lift, Ex 256 10.5mm lift)
Nismo VTC pulleys
Modified oil lubricated routes
Modified Conrod bearings
Entire engine blue print and balanced
MoTeC M600 ECU, MoTeC Cam control, setting fuel cut at 7800rpm
Nismo flywheel
UR crank pulley
MD Spacer
'05 Lower plenum
80mm intake pipe with integrated MAF sensor
Modified OEM airbox with 110mm bell mouth
Fujitsubo headers
Crawford cats
Custom Y-pipe
Nismo centre pipe + rear muffler
and other small mods...

cheers,

richie

anyreason why you as staying with the NISMO flywheel?

may I suggest the REV-UP oil pump to your list? Its made for higher rpm's then the 287 oil pump...

I chose to stay with Nismo flywheel is because of the idle control with MoTeC computer... if the flywheel is too light, the idle is crap... and nismo is in between Stock and JUN (used to use that)... so that's my choice!

Jason, do you have the oil pump in stock by any chance? if I want to buy it, I need it FAST though...

cheers,

richie

Alright, two NA buildups in the works! I would love to see a dyno with the 11.5 compression and NISMO cams.

Anyone considered the VQ40 crank or an overbore?

Subscribing... Can't wait to hear about the results of you guy's motor builds.

I'm also shooting for 300whp, N/A. Just got some Stillen headers and Nismo cams to go with JWT intake, Crawford plenum and Stillen exhaust and test pipes.

Can anyone recommend someone in the Phoenix area to do the cam install? I can do the simple bolt-on stuff (so far all the work on my Z has been done by me), but the cam install is more than I want to tackle alone.

Thanks.
