RB26 DETT in Z or G

I pretty much signed up on this board to ask this main question. I have been throwing around the topic of a hybrid car for my next automobile. And have gone through a list of possibilites one being Picking up either a new 350z or G35 sedan or coupe. But I would like to do something different much like my other options.
My goal would be is: say to find a decent low miles 350z by the end of summer/fall and doing an engine swap. The engine being a 00+ year RB26-DETT engine. I have emailed different aftermaket manufactures but have yet to talk to mortorex because I know they will have a answer and a nice sized price to go along with it...But most of the companies I have contacted were not too familiar if it would be possible or not.
So my question to you since "you" being nissan nuts now and scouring across the net etc for parts for your 350's. If this would somehow work?? Price is not my concern its mainly getting the engine and putting the engine and trany in the 350 and having it RWD and being a LHD car...I think this will be my main delima...
ALL post will be greatly appreciated

To be honest, I don't think anyone on this board has done that swap or is contemplating it in the near future as he car is pretty new here in the states. On that note, I do remember someone saying that FairladyZ owners in Japan are doing that swap and that there are at least a couple. You may want to check a speed shop in Japan.
sounds good, but id hate to see the bill for the custom fab work!! btw why is it that you want to go rb?? i for one believe its all about bang for your buck, and if you go with an rb26 youll be paying out of your *** for the same amount of hp you could get with something else.. supra motor, sr20det, maybe fit a small block chevy in there??

I must say, swapping an RB26DETT is a great idea. The VQ is really just a truck motor compared to the RB. I really thought about swapping an RB26 into my 300ZXTT in place of the VG30DETT. You can definitely do it because engine bay size shouldn't be an issue. As far as other engine choices go, the Supra's 2JZGTE is probably the only other worthy engine, and a great one at that. However, even in Japan, some tuners have been known to swap RB26 engines into Supras if you can believe that!!! In terms of cost, it would probably be cheaper to just get a 2JZGTE Supra engine and swap that in. I know, you'd rather have a Nissan engine but getting a 2000 model year RB26 from Japan isn't going to be that cheap. Hmmm......now you're giving me some ideas. I was debating on getting a used Supra TT vs a new 350Z because Supra can be made so much faster, but if I stick a 2JZGTE in a 350Z........I might have the perfect car.....
lol yeah it does raise some serious eyebrows! im still waiting to see what can be done with the stock engine, and drivetrain. im just scared that since its a fairly new setup, and it will only take minor mods (ala 300zx)
but then again the mitsu evo is one tried and true beast....
ill have to wiegh my decision come this december.

If you are gong that far then might as well go for the Endurance 5.6L V8
For the money you'll spend doing this you can buy a R34 GT-R from Motorex, and it'll be completely legal. Or for the same money you can build up your VQ (truck motor
) with low compression new internals, valve train, cams, stand alone ECU, and a big *** turbo, and go faster than this hybrid. Should be more reliable and you don't have to call Japan for a filter when you change your oil.
Also the RB has a heavy *** iron block, it will really throw off your weight distribution. Its heavy weight didn't matter in the GTR because it was meant to be in an an AWD car with electronic torque distribution. If you really want to swap the RB into something RWD go with an S13 or S14 that is more simplified electronically and much lighter. New cars(350Z) have so many digital sensors and computer controlled gizmos, just the thought of dropping in an engine designed 10 years ago seems like a nightmare.
Don't sleep on the VQ35DE, it has the same power rating as the RB26DETT(although I'm sure the RB is underrated). Imagine how much power a built VQ35DET will make.
If I were you and cost wasn't a concern I'd wait for the R35 GTR and mod the hell out of that.

Another interesting swap would be a Infinity V8 from a Q45.
There's no replacement for displacement!

As far as horsepower and tourque is concerned there is NO replacement for displacement. Handling is a whole different story. Why do you think top fuel dragsters massive displacement supercharged V8s?
