I was just curious if there was anyone on the board that has a motor swap in there 350z and what motor.

 

I grafted 2 RB26's into a V .. and now have a v12.. put it in the back of my Z for the rear wheels... converted the VQ to front wheel drive.. syched the throtles and .. ..

I dont think that there have been many swaps for members on here.. I think there was one or 2 SR20's ...

I came VERY close to actually swapping an RB26 into mine.. but the costs were more than I could justify.

 

there was a guy a few months ago who was working on a sr20dett conversion, but I haven't heard anything about it since.

 

With all the talk about the limited edition 450Z in Japan and that white G35 from Top Secret I am surprised that noone has tried the VK45DE swap (from the M/Q/FX45).

 

i did an sr20det swap into my Nissan NX! But that doesn't count, the NX is only a mini Z

The costs of swapping motors in the car is very high, and the car is reletively new, so the thirst or drive to swap it really isn't there for most. A few companies have done them: Signal has done SR20DET, and I think an RB swap, Top Secret has done of course the V8s, and a few RBs. So far, it seems that only shops are doing them. There even is a shop in Japan that did a custom chop-topped Z, with G35 tail lights, and a subaru 2.0L turbo swap. That was some pretty sick fabrication...

 

i know about the tuner companies doing them but i was just curious about people on the forum. If my motor ever goes i will prolly go SR20DET from an s15

 

slot of 240 guys are going towards VQ35DE now... since they are cheaper to get then SR20's...

i heard of someone swapping a Z06 motor into a Z never heard since

 

z06? can that fit into the engine bay? 7 liters of muscle is quite big to put into an engine bay made for a 3.5 liter motor. but if thats true then wow
