either way it's around $800-1k for a LSD or VLSD. I opted for 295s when I bought my base model... LOL. If you ever read around, you will find the VLSD is the cheapest form of a LSD. Basically the viscous goo only works after the wheel starts to spin, the goo starts to solidify, and only then does the VLSD diff. work. This is why guys with FI still get wheel spin from 1 wheel and the VLSD setup. The goo doesn't cut it... This is why I will go with the Nismo LSD when going FI. Four pin setup, clutch plates, and an instant redirection of power as one wheel starts to loose traction.

I find it interesting that the 295s grip so well in dry conditions. As long as the car is flat with close to equal pressure on the rear tires, it hooks up pretty well. It's a decent balance of power (300hp/295tq) and traction (AVS 295s).

I have a question along these lines. I have both a G35 5at sedan and a 6mt coupe. The coupe has the stock VLSD but the sedan has no LSD of any type.

Can I just get the entire rear end, pumpkin, axles and all, from a 5at 350Z and install it under the sedan?

I can't seem to get the answer on Driver.

 

It really depends on what kind of deal you can find on a OEM VLSD. I found one on here new from a member for $250 WITH axelstubs/bearings, had a good mechanic install it for $400. So I am in $650 for a VLSD. Its a night and day difference from the open diff. Yeah, the Nismo or quafie probably out does the oem vlsd hands down, but they are a lot more than $650 in parts alone. Overall, I consider it $650 well spent.
