thawk,

Get some resonated pipes-I have kinetix and love them, virtually no rasp.

PS- I'm Jealous of your numbers!

Well, what 287hp said. But some guy who roams these forum always sais they suck. Said the welds for the resonators don't compare to the Labree's or whatever. They looked okay to me and I've had no issues. They sound killer with the Borla, no rasp at all, period. The only down side with pipes is sometimes you get a wiff of fumes but it doesn't bother me.

So did you do this today (Tuesday)? That's funny cause I just got my new APS plenum on today.

Cool, I will have to check the kinetix out then. I want zero rasp, as I found out how annoying it really is. I also dont want the resonators to mess up my power tho. Yeah I did it today (tuesday). The dyno instructor said that when I let off the gas at redline 2 blue flames shot out of my exhaust . Get that plenum on there!!! You need to return to 288rwhp status!

I was just thinking how I never see anyone speaking Unichip for N/A 350Z's on these forums except for some of us in the SF Bay Area. You got your EU's and your UTEC's and such but these new Unichips work well too.

Sorry to jack you thread about that Thawk, it was an impulse.

I run Kinetix Resonated Test and have no complaints. At about 4K you will have a little Rasp ... but not bad at all.

UTR(Unlimited Tuning) are the manufacturer of those parts, it is listed on our website. The headers are a replica design from the Tomei Japan headers but are converted for a LHD 350Z.

Get a straight through cherry bomb/glasspack resonator. This type of resonator does not impede the exhaust flow at all, the resonating comes from the glass insulation that absorbs some of the pressure pulses.

You may want to try a lightweight flywheel also to reduce a little more reciprocating mass. Every pony counts!

Keep in mind that every dyno is different. His actual gains are not that out of the ordinary (or so it seems). 268 - 255 = 27 rwhp gain. Most guys on 287 model who dyno with this stuff get about 265. 238 (avg. baseline dyno on 287) + 27 = 265. However, it may be that you truly do have a high baseline. There really isnt much of a way to know from just one dyno. But the gains seem fairly typical to me. Im suprized that the crawford cats vs. test pipes were so different.

Do they have those gains with or without a tune?

Great numbers. once again the REV-UP motors proving to respond to mods better than non rev-up motors

Thawk... I have a set of Kinetix resonated, injen 1986, crawford plenum, nismo exhaust = no rasp but its loud as hell. My base was 264rwhp on stock 35th ann wheels and 269 with just test pipes. I installed in addition to the test pipes, a injen cai, crawford plenum, volks GTC 19x9.5 and 19.10.5 on the same dyno and went down to 250whp. I lost 20hp on just wheel and tire weight. Sucks! Going FI soon..

i can see what you mean. i got a baseline dyno of 250/243 on a dynopak and after my mods i dynoed 279/257.
on a dynojet i didnt get a baseline but after my mods i got 265/247. guessing i was running about 235 baseline on a dynojet

and on a side note. is it safe to say testpipes = more performance vs HFC? i was thinking of installing my headers sitting at home and changing to resonated testpipes

Does anyone know how many rev-ups have gone FI? I just recently got mine back (rev-up) with adding twin turbos along with getting it dynoed. Probably should just make a new post for it for those that wanted to know.
