Problem with KJR crank pulley. Please help!
Hi:
I am a spanish guy who has already installed the KJR crank pulley and I have some problems with it.
I've been looking around this forum but I coudn't be able to find a solution to my problem.
The thing is that that after the installation, I went for a run and I found a deep sound with a kind of vibration, you can hear and feel it very well when you hard hit the gas in low rpm's. Itīs not a nice sound at all. Itīs like if something is grazing or touching something wrong. You can even feel the vibration in the gas pedal.
I donīt know what I could do wrong, because the only important things in the instalation is the correct tight of the belts, and the correct tightness of the central nut of the pulley.
What do you think?, I'm a little bit worried...

Very early versions of the instructions suggested +/- 36 ft/lbs of torque on the crank bolt. KJR corrected the error quickly (do a search on this site) to 36 ft/lbs PLUS 6 DEGREES, which equates to about 100/110 ft/lbs on the crank bolt. I suggest you make double sure the pulley is properly fitted to the key way, use a little anti-seize there, and torque to proper spec.

thank you a lot for that information jcpleyton. I will follow that as soon as I can.
Something special for tighting the belts?, any specifical torque specs for that?
Thank you again.

There is a gauge for belts, but not really necessary in my opinion. Just loosen the the idler puller (between the crank pulley and the alternator puller) and tighten the screw that adjusts belts. Belts should have a small play, but stiff when pushing down with finger. Good luck.

+1 on belt tensioning. Originally, I counted turns while loosening the belts, but found, during re-install, that counting turns matterd very little. Simply re-adjust the belts w/ small play, but very stiff when pushing down w/ a finger. You can always tighten further if they squeal or loosen a little if they seem to be restricting the pulley(s).
plumpzz--I agree. If an owner wants this mod but is inexperienced in the task or doesn't have the right tools, the mod can be VERY frustrating to accomplish and do more harm than good. When in doubt, take it to a shop you trust.
