Default Nismo S-Tune on it's way!!

I should have it in my hands by next Friday. That means that at Laguna Seca on 01/30 I should have it installed. It will go along with my 12lb battery, steel braided Stoptech brake lines, Hawk HP+ brake pads, Motul 600 brake fluid, 245/40/18 S03's F, and 255/40/18 S03's R. Should be a very capable track car at that point!!

It's to save 30lbs over the stock battery. Especially off the nose of the car.

Does it last as long as the stock battery? How much is it? Where can you get one?

I thought the battery was located behind the front wheel, so isn't it closer to the center of the car?

Great news. I assume you went with the full kit - shocks, springs, and sway bars. When you post your impressions after the install, please also let us know how the suspension works on the street (in other words, is it a dual use set up or more for track only).

raceboy, youre not worried about your tires at all? ive been looking for some r-compound tires, but at this point there's nothing that will fit the stock 8" wide wheels that i can drive to an event. (i think hoosier has a tire that will fit but its not safe for the street). if i cant find anything i will probably be using s03s at the track, too.

let me know how yours work out, thanks.

I don't want to run R comps on the track because it teaches you nothing about driving your car on the street. Plus with R's you'll be going a lot faster if something does go wrong. Not worth it to me. The S03's are cheap enough that if I get 10K miles out of them that will bee good enough. My little MR2 Spyder would eat a set of rear S03's in 5K miles!!

Yes, it's the full set with shocks, springs, and anti-roll bars. I'll give a full write up once installed. I also have to drive 300 miles to get to Laguna Seca, so I think I'll know alot about how comfortable they are on the street!

Great let us now how that 20mm affect your street ride, I am interested in the kit as well but concerned with the ride as well as the camber issue since we cannot adjust after lowering. Are you going to install all at once or bars first and see how they do and then springs? Just curious because as an option I was thinking of just installing the bars to improve handling.

I believe JIC was making adjustable suspension arms which allow you to change toe and camber. Haven't heard anything about this recently.

Default how much?

How much does the NISMO S tune lower your car ft and rear? Nissan is lowering thew car with no camber adjustments? I thought Nisaan would go fisrt class on upgrades, am i missing something here?

I hope you give us a detailed explaination of street and tract handling on this set up. I am strongly considering it. What is the cost? You can PM me with info if you feel more comfortable.

Jeff

Not installed yet, it's still clearing customs. Should have it in my hands by this Friday, but not in time for Laguna Seca unfortunately. I will post detailed pics and give a detailed write up.

Steve, can I get a quick thought from you on the new 245/40, 255/40 set-up? You liking those sizes now that you've got some miles on them?

Thanks!
Brad

I think that for me the tire sizes I chose were perfect. The understeer is greatly reduced with this setup, although still too present for my tastes. I still can't believe the S03's, even with a lower sidewall height, actually ride better than the 040's. No VDC or TCS problems to report at all.

I just put the S03's on my Track Z... I went with the 275 R and 245 F combo... a bit out of speck, but no problems and a big diffrence in looks.

The S03's perform 100% diffrently than the RE040's The road noise is down, the fethering tread is gone and I have a bit of tire protecting my rims from evil curbs!!

I have yet to get to the track, but I run high cornering speeds in town. I use 17 x8.5" wheels (not much out there yet) with 255/40 F and 275/40 R Yokahoma RA-1 race tires. They are not up to the Toyo's, but they last very well. The Toyo's are also available in these sizes. I stayed with 17" wheels because race tires generally come in odd sizes (13, 15, 17). I have an Enthusiest model and must turn off the terrible traction control. I have massive grip coming out of corners. Although the car generally wants to oversteer, even on an entrance. Race tires are the primary way to get performance out of the car. Yes expensive, but cheaper than all the questionable add-ons around. Race tires, particullary the Yoke's, may last longer on track since they are designed to handle the higher temps, won't slip as much, and will not usually chunk. I have three vehicals, a supercharged Miata, a Honda 929 semi-race bike, and the Z - all on race rubber.
