Question NISMO good or bad?

I was wondering, Is nismo a quality brand for engine and brake and transmission parts? do they make a big diffrence? are they top quality?
do they have big gains in performance? see I thought if I upgraded my car with all nismo products my car would hold some value than to buy other after market brands since nismo is straight from nissan. not like if you buy hks, greddy and other big name brands and when you attemp to sell your car the value would go down. Im intrested in getting all cams and full exaust like headers, high flow cats, y pipe, and cat back and I know nismo sells all this but does it give much gain than fuji., or hks or what ever other brands out there.
I put this up in 350 z forum and no where else since this question is a general question about all nismo has to offer and I wanted your opinion.

The only additional advantage of using Nismo (IMO) would be if you had it all installed at the time of purchase, and it was covered under original warranty. I believe that Nismo parts (s-tune, anyway) are covered if installed by the dealer at time of purchase.

Other than that, aftermarket parts aren't going to add value - never have, never will. Hear me know, believe me later.

<rant>

Nismo is overpriced, underperforming, re-badged parts that exist for nothing more than as another stream of revenue for NISSAN. I, as a customer, see no value in NISMO. For almost any given NISMO part, I can find a suitable alternative, that is either less expensive, better performing... or both.

As a whole, I am generally unimpressed with NISMO. They are nothing more than a marketing department at this point.

Which is sad, they have the resources and inside contacts to make great things happen with Infiniti/Nissan vehicles... but they choose not to. Boo, NISMO.

So far, they are a joke in my book.

While Nismo parts are relatively expensive, expecially at list price, the quality is exceptional and the performance is comparable to other aftermarket parts.

Only nismo parts i'd ever buy are internal parts for an NA build. They make great internals, at a hefty price

Oh and the stickers, gotta have the stickers.

Most people will probably tell you for the price, the cams and headers are just not worth it for the small amount of gains. That's true for Nismo or any other brand. The labor costs to install those two mods are outrageous. If I remember correctly, it's like 10 hours on the cams and 8 hours on the headers.

Nismo parts work for me. Yeah they cost more, but quality is excellent, everthing fits right and you know what you are buying. I'm pleased with the performance increases and have had no problems.

It makes me laugh that people still think NISMO parts are just rebadged parts from other manufacturers. NISMO engineers all thier products themselves, they just outsource the labor to other companies that can mass produce their parts.

Exhaust from Fujitsubo; CAI from AEM; wheels from Rays;Air filters from Calsonic;...

I have to admit, the wheels are the only thing that isn't rebranded but I'd be willing to bet that Rays engineered and designed them and Nismo just signed off on the production.

I totally agree with trebien, NISMO is all marketing - nothing more in my book.
No matter what you add on a car, if they buyer doesn't like than they aren't going to pay for it.

I agree that mods are no way to go to try and increase the value of a car. If you want a car to earn money for you, get a pizza delivery job and drive a civic.

Nismo is an interesting part of Nissan. They basically go to leaders in each segment and have them build parts that meet Nissan quality standards. How much Nismo gets involved with testing or design is anyones guess.

Car companies do this all the time with all types of parts on their OEM builds. They outsource electrical components, wheels, etc. and they have been forever.

If you are paying list for any aftermarket part, you are paying to much. Some parts are overpriced some are not, just like everybody else.

I would buy my Nismo exhaust again in a minute.

you and trebien can agree all day long. Meanwhile I'm ecstatic with the build/materials quality of my nismo exhaust, and I purchased it for the tone, not for the hp gains or "big tips" or whatever. It looks great, sounds great, and added noticeable peformance. Isn't that what modding is all about?

Besides. who ISN'T about marketing? You'd be retarded to think any of the tuning companies, HKS, Greddy, APS, Tnetics, JWT, etc. aren't focusing on marketing to sell more and instead are super concerned with the quality and style of their products

Nismo is just okay imo. Only things I purchase that are Nismo is because there are limited offerings on that particular product. I have the LSD, Diff cover, and Power Steering cooler. Intakes, headers, exhaust components, etc. there are better options out there. Nothing special about their stuff unless you step up to the crazy RS concept stuff, which no one ever gets. There are way better alternatives out on the market and the only guys that stick with a lot of nismo stuff is the employess because they get it at cost!

I only have a few Nismo parts, but one part I am happy with (so far) are my Nismo cams. Granted, I got a killer deal on the cams ($625), so I didn't pay the inflated retail.

I think their suspension parts are pretty good too, since they took some time to design them to work together.
