Is it really worth it??
Hey guys...maybe you can help me out a little...tryin to do sum engine stuff done to my whip...so far i had it for 2yrs wit 20,XXX and started to do sum mods...AEM intake and HKS exhaust...and i wanted to do a couple more bolt ons...crawford headers,5/16motordyne spacer, utec chip, test pipes, pulleys, once i told the guy who was gonna install the parts...he said i wont gain any power...he said to do F/I APS Turbo kit...i was ok wit it but i really dont know too much...its pretty much everything i saved up in the past 2 years if i do Turbo...my car is an A/T too...so heres the thing....should i either bother doing bolt ons? should i do the turbo? im afraid and dont want to worry about the turbo and bringing it to the shop for repairs...the guy said he has done many in the past but this is my baby and idk what to do...i rather hear from guys with expierence b4 i start doing anything...is it worth it? what should i do and look out for? just wanna do stuff to make my Z quick....but no headaches ahead....thanks...
With Bolt Ons you will notice some differences in performance and your car will feel quicker. However it wont feel anything near as fast as going F/I. But, N/A is always going to be more reliable than going F/I, despite what everyone says. Especially if your 5at, you will have to get a valve body and stuff. Depends on how much your boosting your car. I guess it just depends on what you want, do you value reliability more or performance? Going F/I wont mean your car wont be reliable, it depends on how you take care of it, however you are taking more of a risk than going N/A. You need to ask yourself how happy are you with your car's performance. If your somewhat happy, then just stay N/A.
how many hp will i get out of this...if i do bolt ons...to the crank and the wheels?? just so i know...tha guy said tha im spending over a couple thousand for bolt ons that wont do as much as F/I and if i saved the money and didnt do bolt ons i would be better off and have more hp for the money goin F/I...

I May be wrong but if you have to save money to go FI you probly shouldnt consider it. If you blow up your engine can you afford to replace it? If you need to buy an unexpected 2k worth of parts to get you FI to run right does it matter?
FI is awsome and alot of fun.....but if you cant afford it dont bother.

I'd actually prefer to finance a more expensive car; corvette C6 or something, than put my last dollar into a turbo kit. At least then, even if you spent your last dollar on the down payment, you'll have warranty if your car dies.
If your Z's not a daily driver or you have plenty of money to cover incidental sh*t, go for it.
Plus, I could be wrong about this, (no personal experience) but the impression that I get from reading up is that if you go F/I you actually benefit a lot from having a really huge exhaust. If all you can afford is the bare minimum turbo kit, and you can't afford the extras and tuning that goes along with it, it's definitely not worth it. You'll just be complaining like a lot of people how you only got 50whp, then you won't have any money to tune it properly etc.
Edit: Of course, another option is to trade the Z in for the Evo IX, which is a faster car in general and comes with factory turbo. Not to mention those "bolt ons" will give you a crapload more power than in the Z. Yes, I'm being serious. I test drove an Evo IX, it is one fun-*** car to drive (especially if you love the feeling of F/I).
