Unhappy Little disappointed.....(dyno results)

Well, I decided to take the z in and get her dynoed today. I wasn't expecting any huge numbers due to my lack of mods, but I was expecting somewhere around 250 rwhp/rwtp. After the three runs I was putting down 243 rwhp/241rwtq? I couldn't believe that I didn't gain anything with my mods.

Mods:
JWT pop charger
Random Tech hi flow cats
Nismo Cat back

The reason that I wanted to get it dynoed wasn't so much the hp/tq numbers, I was more concerned with my AF ratio. My gas mileage lately has seemed to be getting worse. That was the main reason that I wanted to get it dynoed. The guys said that the AF numbers looked pretty good across the board.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Ian

Get rid of the HFC and get some testpipes. If you do this you might hit your goal. Also, that is a good number with your mods considering it is a DynoDynamics.

The dyno which was used was a Dyno Dynamics Dynamoter which he said was just like a Mustang dyno if I remember correctly?

I might be wrong, but don't stock Z's put down around 243 rwhp/240 rwtq?

Thanks

Ian

You don't know what you really gained unless you got a baseline dyno. So that dyno is pretty much worthless in telling us what you gained or lost.

I have been told by certain members of these forums in person that by the time you've replaced the cats with HFC or test pipes, that's about the right time to be getting an ECU reflash.

I can't offer any personal experience since my motor is stock, but I'm just bringing up a point which I have researched personally.

Thats not a Mustang Dyno.

Your numbers are decent, I wouldnt worry-Dyno Dynamics read a little lower than Dynojets unless the shop input a correction factor to give you "dynojet" like(or higher as we've seen in some cases) numbers. I would ditch the HF cats and just do test-pipes, better gains, less than 1/2 the price. Id like to see A/F BTW....

Thanks for all the comments Here is a copy of the AF chart. There seems to be a spike in it, but the tech said that everything looked normal. I'm not too sure if that's normal. Like I said, I'm new to the whole tuning process.

I wouldn't expect any more than a 10-15 hp gain from those mods. Your dyno doesn't look bad at all, pretty good in fact...

I agree with what the others say about variances in ratings between different brands of dynos. Dynojets tend to "rate higher" than say a mustang, but at the same time, dynojets are pretty much the industry standard with its wide spread use (at least in the import tuner market). I just did a baseline on my car at my works dynojet and got 237.7 rwhp. I just installed my HKS exhaust and Ill probably redyno in a few days.....unfortunately, I without a baseline of your own its hard to tell....

go with the UTEC, screw the re-flash.

Numbers look good, but without like stated above without a baseline no way to know what you really gained.

Test pipes would help and want cause CEL on 03 model but cant pass emissions you have to swap out each year or we do her in TN. Your numbers look good stock is around 234 to 239 regularly. Be happy these engines are tweaked as it is.

Actually testpipes WILL pass emissions in TN. I just did it yesturday. I got an 05 with testpipes and the HELP! mod to avoid throwing a CEL.

Can't wait to see what you gained with the HKS. I also got a baseline but now my dyno place is booked solid for the next 2 weeks so I won't be able to get in there until then.
