Default stock clutch problem?!

I was out having some fun and i ended up on some back country road with nobody around and i thought i'd see how hard it was to launch my z from a stop. everyone says take off at about 2500 rpm... did this worked pretty good. then i tried to really rev the car up and slip the clutch trying to keep my tires planted. well i gave it some gas released the clutch till it started to grab a little then gave some more gas and released some more clutch...... well my clutch just stayed there. it didn't grab anymore as i released my foot. in fact my foot was completely off the pedal and it was burning like hell. my car is completely stock, so i wouldn't think it would be too much for the clutch but......

planning for some fi down the road so i may have just found my first pre fi mod in the form of a new clutch.

anybody else with a similar experience or did i just get weak clutch from the factory. I've not abused my car and it's only got 10k on it sooo i would think it should be ok.

the stock clutch is known to get stuck sometimes. i think you fried it pretty good. you should have disengaged the clutch asap.

yea it was really wierd, i've done the same thing with bike's and plenty of other cars... never had a peddle just float in mid release before. My clutch smelled really bad for a few days but seems to be ok, everything is shifting and grabbing fine. i'm sure it lost more than a few days of it's life in the process though!!!!!

The stock clutch sucks. It is a problem I have had along with several other people on the board. During a hard launch somtimes it will stick to the floor.
